Yeah I'm one year into owning my 3 and it looks like hell. You'd think I'm a soccer mom with destructive kids as badly as my plastics are scratched. But the twist is that it's only the plastics themselves. The rest of the car does just fine.

I'm thinking about buying the 2014 window switch bezels and rocking the faux carbon look just to get rid of the scratched up parts. I need to find a cover for my shifter soon. There's plenty overseas, I'd just have to wait for shipping.

I have a 2015 with the faux carbon fibre, and I love it even more now that I'm seeing what's happening with the 2017+ models and their piano black. My window switch bezels all look brand new and perfect. It's a very cheap mod to replace your piano black bezels with these. Unfortunately I do have piano black around the shifter and that is a little scratched.

If i were a little more active, i would move my "Sport" button, and replace my piano trim with some base model stuff.

I would gladly swap you the faux carbon fibre ones from my 2014. One catch though, I only have 3, they can however be found online for about 12 bucks. Send me a PM if interested.

I've found the full set online for like $30 bucks, I just haven't gotten around to getting them yet. So after shipping from TX to PA and buying the missing one it would probably cost more to do that instead of just buying new. Thanks for the offer though!

Light scratches - but ugly

I found out early on that there is no way to avoid the scratching of the black plastic on my 2017 M3. Perhaps if you were to wear gloves you could avoid the scratches. I’m an auto detailer by trade, so I’m pretty anal retentive about the car. It anoys me to look at the scratched black plastic. I am purchasing a black carbon fiber dash kit. The kit comes with lots of small pieces for other areas, some of which will cover the scratched areas. The good thing is that when you have a design such as carbon fiber, any future lite scratches will not stand out like a sore thumb as they do on the piano black. ?

I was just use to the scratches and for the most part ignored them until I read this thread and the response....NOW every time I get into my M3 I see that damn scratches. :laugh2:

Gotta cover them.....:nerd:

Would attempting to Plasti-Dip the piano black items be a bad idea? I have a '17 M3 Hatch and I'm starting to get irritated with the glare the dash throws on the windshield. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle that?

Hi, I was trying to search for alternatives to the piano black trim pieces for my 2018 Mazda 3 Hatch, but I'm not a fan of the grey carbon fiber that's everywhere. Someone earlier up this thread mentioned a black carbon fiber earlier but I haven't been able to find it. My google-fu could be trash, but could someone recommend/link some black alternatives or be willing to sell their good condition piano black trim?

It seems like some of you guys might be interested in the 2014 window trim pieces. It is very easy to replace these trim pieces, all you do is remove the rubber liner in the little cubby of the door and use a trim removal piece to pry them right up. Then all you have to do is release the window switch block and slam the new one on. I personally bought the pieces at Genuine Factory OEM Parts & Accessories | TascaParts.com they were about $12 each. Here are the part numbers as well:

BHN9-68-4L6A-02 Driver Front
BHN9-68-5L6A-02 Driver Rear
BHN9-68-4L1A-02 Passenger Front
BHN9-68-5L1A-02 Passenger Rear

I am 99% sure that I have marked the part numbers with where they go but please confirm yourself.

If anyone needs a how to on how to replace these just let me know and I can do something for you.
Here are the pics:!
Glad this thread popped back up. Is there a Manual Trans shifter Panel that match these? Mine are all scratched up.
