I have had a 2015 Hatchback since new and this has been a problem for a couple of years. I read every post, thanks for everyones input. I live on the Sunshine Coast in Australia which has the same climate as Florida. This year has been one of the wettest on record with the La Nina system causing havoc. I decided to go the nuclear option and solder the wires.

If your are unsure of the pairing of the wires, either cut them one at a time or take a photo. None of the colours match up. One pair is dark grey and black so take care.

I took all the panels off in about 10 minutes, the only tricky one was pulling the long centre pin out of the lugs that the shelf cords attach to, then pull out the lug; only because this was new to me. I then cut the plugs off (cut through the plug) about 10mm from the wire so that the wire and crimps came out, giving me maximum wire length, and then cut the little crimps off the end of the cable. I then split the outer jacket with a small pair of sidecutters and pushed it back, stripped about 12mm of insulation and soldered the wires.
Due to the length of the wires I had to twist them like you would poke your fingers into each other and twist, takes a bit of practice but good for tight spots. Solder went on well, taped individually. Used the original jacket and wrapped more tape around to make a neat job. Taped the camera wire to the panel/main loom closer to the camera.
Before I put the panels back on I made sure the plugs lined up and popped them in. The trickiest ones are the side panels. They have 3 "hooks" on the top edge. The one closest to the glass is fiddly. Flex out that edge and locate that hook first, then the rest will follow easily.

I tested it before I put it back together and it worked. I then put it all together and went for a short drive to see what it looked like in daylight, excellent. For it to work 10 times in the matter of minutes is a good sign. For the past couple of years it would be lucky to work once a week, and I make about 4 trips a day.

Thanks again for everyones input.

Did my own interpretation of the TSB service today. Fingers crossed that it works. Here's a helpful video for pulling off the hatch trim panels.

If this happens to anybody, where your backup camera feed doesn't show up on your screen when you put the car into reverse, first try a forced reboot.

I had the issue a few mornings ago. I rebooted the infotainment center, and the backup camera feature worked again.

So, before you try any more difficult measures, like troubleshooting the circuit with a meter or taking it to a dealer, just reboot. Seriously!
The camera feed is put on the screen by a computer program, and it probably just crashed.

To force a complete reboot:
press and hold Mute + Nav + Back
Thank you so much this info was great, I was freaking out 👍

My 2016 Mazda3 GS Sport had intermittent issues with the backup camera getting gradually worse (fuzzy screen, scrolling, sometimes black screen).

Taking the hatch panel off, un-plugging and re-plugging the camera wire and then taping it more securely fully fixed the issues for me, thank you for the suggestions!

I pried the handle from the wrong side which chipped the plastic, otherwise was easy and took about 30 minutes (I’m not a mechanic).

One note: remember to pull the pins that hold the inner hatch lid up and then pry them out before prying the side panels off (mine flew off but were undamaged).

I disconnected the negative battery cable and counted to 30 and it reset the entire system. Camera started to work again. Reset bluetooth and everything

Hey I updated my firmware from 59.0 to 70.0 and also changed out my old system to Apple carplay / Android auto but now my backup camera not working

Try it with a spare camera and see what happens.

Great idea, because everyone has a spare backup camera sitting around.

Read through the posts in this thread. You need to check the wiring, especially if you have a hatchback. Try doing a forced reboot and factory reset on the CMU.

One other suggestion if that doesn't work...If you have anything plugged into the console charger, SD map slot or USB ports remove all and then, lock the door and walk away for awhile and/or do a infotainment reset/reboot. I found on a couple occasions, that removing the SD map card fixed the exact problem. A couple of times recently, I noticed the navigation did not come on and I just removed the SD card and re-inserted. I do on occasion get the wiggly back up screen, but the problem usually resets itself the next time I get in the car....There is also a known problem discussed long ago on this forum that off brand chargers can cause the screen problem.
This helped me so much, I have one of those cheap cigarette lighter USB plug, my backup camera signal wasn't going through, I unplugged that and low and behold.. Camera signal started working again

If you have one of those cheap cigarette lighter USB adapters plugged in, take it out. My backup camera stopped working, "no signal". So I unplugged the USB thing, and backup camera started working again. Super weird.

Got my recall notice via email for my 2017 Mazda 3 5 hatchback. Called my dealer and was told they haven't received parts or instructions from Mazda yet. So just waiting to hear then I'll be in on the recall.
