Hello .. everybody ... I have problem with my mazda skyactiv 2016 ... While engine warm up in cold start ... My engine have some knocking sound ... I dont know what's that?
No DTC errors ... I have checked to dealers .. dealers and some mechanics says no problem but the noise making confused
I haved compare sound with others mazda cars .. no knocking like my engine [emoji26]
Did everybody in this forums have the same issued same like me ... Give me some suggesttion to resolved it ...

Are you sure ... ??

 

Spark plugs, air filter, throttle body cleaning, MAF sensor cleaning, MAP sensor cleaning.

These are things that should be done every 20k miles or so.. except plugs, which are 75k and throttle body, which is 50k.

I would say injector sounds are predominate in your recording
They do get loader with age .
MAybe add a Fuel system cleaner with what @CerealKiller mentioned

 

Hi bro.... I've used a Mazda deposit cleaner in fuel only once... But nothing effect at all.... I've cleaning the injectors using liquid injector cleaner and intake manifold cleaning.. but still sounding until now ... Will the injectors replace with the new one ?? But i always scan the ECU ... No DTC errors at alll.... But anyways thanks for your suggestion bro 🙏🙏 .. any others suggestion ?

 

only way to know for sure if injectors are faulty or failing is to have their flow tested.
or replace with new ... I have replaced the OEM NGK at 250k kms.

Loud injectors does not mean they are failing

Here are a few signs there might be something wrong with your fuel injectors.

Microphones are funny, they will bring some noises out and miss others. Anyway, I can clearly hear the HPFP ticking away, but that's normal. I can barely hear a lower toned noise, but it doesn't really sound bad. One thing about the skyactive engines is that they play with engine parameters (valve & injector pulse timing iirc) in order to warm up the catalytic converters faster. This will often make the engine sound "ticky" or "knocky" when cold, but goes away within a minute.

I suppose it's possible that you have an exhaust leak causing that noise. A leak at the manifold or the cat can sound like valve tick or knocking. There's an easy test for exhaust leaks using a shopvac or leaf blower and soapy water. The idea is to use the vac (with the hose on the other port so that it blows air rather than sucks) or leaf blower on the tailpipe to pressurize the exhaust system, then you spray soapy water on all of the joints in the exhaust (you'll want to jack up the car so you can get under it). If there's a leak, you'll have soap bubbles showing where the leak is.

 

Hello... You mean exhausted manifold "gasket" leak ??? Before this i have check it out ... And replace with the new one gasket .. and im sure not leak in exhausted manifold .. but thanks for your sugggestion bro ,,,

 

Engine mounts can cause noise too.. you would notice engine movement or odd front end weight shifts when maneuvering or stopping/starting.

There are 3. Rear torque mount under the engine, transmission mount under the fuse box, and passenger side mount.

Sound will happen when the RPM drop ... Or in IDLE possiton transmission like in P position or N position. But when we driving .... It's really normal. No sound at alll very very smooth

Confusing me ..... Will that transmission problem bro ??? What do you think ???

 

When was the last time your oil was changed, and what oil was used?

 

Last week ago im using " mobil 1 advanced fuel economy 0w-20 " 4 litre right now

Before that im using " motul 5w-30 specific D " 4 litre for testing. Only use in may be 100 - 150 km after change to mobil 1

I have tried Amsoil performances 0w - 20. Sound knocking lounder than this. So i replace to motul

Before amsoil im using mazda genuine oil in dealer 0w-20
Interval change maybe 7000 km

 

The reason I asked is because that extra bit of noise sounds like lifter tick. My 96 Miata sounds just like that if it hasn't been run in a while or the oil hasn't been changed on time. The wrong oil or old oil could do just what you are hearing.

 

you mean HLA ... I once opened the valve cover and tried to press HLA... but everything was hard and rocker arms patent in position and all the noken as there no scratchess...

But also may be next i tried to replace new HLA and rockers arm.. ( part in booking order from mazda .. not ready at all )

Probably not. If there is a problem with a lifter, using 5w20 instead of 0w20 might make it worse. Thinner oil will get into the lifters better on a cold start.

 

It’s funny I tell my friends my car sounds like a Diesel at start up. Once it gets warm it quiets down. This is usual for a higher compression motor.

I've been going on longer trips in the morning recently and the car seems to appreciate it.. much smoother and quiter ride after a week of continuous longer trips. Short trips seem to be bad for the Sky engine system.

Fuel might be the culprit. If the tank is low I’d try a few gallons of high octane gas (92 or higher). Yes the engine should be happy with 87 but just because it says 87 doesn’t mean you got 87. Manufacturers screw up all the time, leaking underground tank could be letting water in, etc.

 

Update : after dissamble and clean all injector + replacing all the seal injector .. the sound more better than before ... No knocking sound ... But in the right side still something sound like "pump noise" ....like check check check sounding... Still dont know what it is ... But more better 70% than my listing video ...

i have the same cluncking sound u can hear very easily when the engine is cold and sometime when u come to stop its not there, most of the time its there, its not steady sound it dims aswell, low rpm i can hear it, goes way when excelarating or at least i don't hear it

 

Can be oil pump valve or the oil pump it self can cause that knocking sound

 

Sounds like the direct injection pump. They are camshaft actuated, running off rpm. This pump can flow up to 3000 psi of fuel pressure in turn are a noisy being a mechanical pump.
