Hi guys,
My Mazda3's screen is often black. It should be a problem with the CMU.
So I bought a replacement, I can't use it properly. What should I do to solve this?

Previously, I went to a dealership for repairs, but they didn’t fix it, and the problem persisted. They suggested I replace the CMU and quoted me 4000, so I didn’t go through with it. I ended up buying one on eBay and installing it myself. I noticed that for others who replaced their CMU, it worked right away, but in my case, after replacing it, I’m getting errors, and it won’t function—only the reverse camera works fine.

First time I hear that someone was successful replacing it without programming, It may work somehow if they're manufactured with the same configuration, but the VIN number still the donor CMU.
In my first post I forgot to attach the Service Alert, check if yous it's in the serial number range, if it is contact Mazda Corp and tell them the dealer failed to fix it.

OP I edited Thread you say MCU, it is CMU, Connectivity Master Unit.

The 'Restrictions' apply to the use of My Mazda App as it was probably configured in either your car or the seconds hand unit you replaced it with.
Plus the cars separate TCU (Telecommunications Control Unit which is VIN Locked) and communicates with MyMazda App and Public Mobile Tower and server....IF you use MMApp as you do not say, I assume the other owner of CMU might have?..again I am assuming it is a USED CMU and not new.

Without going into too much detail as I am not an expert but know a little from reading and other owner experience the MyMazda App has many qualification and settings which can be done by owner, BUT the actual setting up after hardware replacement MUST Be done at Dealer with MDARS as there is a lengthy process with up to 50 possible error codes and Recovery and Passcodes and Registration of Car and or TCU and or Owners Phone App.
It is not a straight forward process, you don't even say of you were using the MMApp as again the use of is not Free forever and is Contracted by the owner in US and I assume in Canada.

Here is MNAO Retail info, again inside Canada you should have the same or similar info freely available.
