No, it doesn't. CMU needs to be programmed to your car configuration with MDARS. I have my doubts the dealer will do the job for you, but you can always ask. How did you conclude the CMU is at fault? Is your serial number included in the Service Alert?

First time I hear that someone was successful replacing it without programming, It may work somehow if they're manufactured with the same configuration, but the VIN number still the donor CMU.
In my first post I forgot to attach the Service Alert, check if yous it's in the serial number range, if it is contact Mazda Corp and tell them the dealer failed to fix it.
