Just showing off some trial-and-error mods I did with my cupholders.
Most mornings I have a 16-oz stainless steel coffee mug, tall with a half-hourglass or inverted-coke-bottle shape. (Sorry no pic of it.) Because the bottom is narrower than the top, it tends to tip over, though it hasn't done so to the point of spilling. But it is a bit disconcerting when making that first left turn out of the sub.

I added some thick foam rubber on one side, another piece on another side, to try to "crowd" my mug into place to keep it from tipping over or banging around. I added some felt pads to the third side to reduce rattle or banging noise.

What type of foam rubber did you use and from where?

Thanks

The cup holders in the 17-18 have little spring holder flaps on them. Makes me wonder if the holders themselves could be retrofit into the 14-16 models.

Also, wish I had a manual handbrake on my '17 :(

My 2018 GT sedan has a decent set of cup holders, but if I put a taller coffee travel mug in there it sticks up and makes shifting gears a bit odd. I usually put the tall mug in the rear holder but it still means that I have to keep the arm up a bit when shifting. Interesting thread as I have toyed with the idea of a cell phone cup holder. Again... if it sticks up, it will interfere with shifting so I think that I may look at a dash vent holder instead. This is the price that I pay for rowing my own gears I suppose... ?
