Dear Members,

My windshield washer pump don't spray and I have checked the fuse, the pump, the wires from pump to BCM and obvious the fluid. I read on this forum about the Body Control Module (BCM) and I bought a used one but that didn't solve the problem. I have hard wired the positive and negative from the battery to the pump and it sprayed water. So somehow when I pull the washer handle for spray, the BCM or whichever don't send power to the pump. Anyone has any ideas on this? Thank you.

Good that you verified that the pump works, but don't go leaping to replacing expensive parts without completing diagnosis first.

The washer switch is built into the stalk (and replacing it involves replacing the whole stalk), so we use the term interchangeably. I would suggest following the power. I would back-probe the pump connector to see if activating the washer switch on the stalk actually sends power to the pump. If not, you may have a bad switch or another fault somewhere between the switch and the pump. Download the pdf of the factory shop manual, which should have a wiring diagram. Then remove the trim around the steering column. Find the harness connectors closest to the stalk and match up the wiring colors from the wiring diagram. Then back-probe the connectors to see if A) the wiper stalk is getting power from the car, and B) using the washer switch sends power back out from the switch. If not, then the wiper stalk is probably bad. If the switch seems to be ok but there's no power reaching the pump, then follow the wiring diagram to the next module or connector and repeat. Continue with this till you find where the problem is. Yes you will cuss a lot, and yes you will get a crick in your neck, but electrical stuff is tricky to diagnose. You will be temped to take it somewhere, but unless your mechanic is truly dedicated, they will just throw parts at it (more money for them).
