After my experience, I would print the TSB out and bring it with you. Also, ask to do a test drive with them to show them the issue. If they don't know what it is, they won't be able to fix it.

My Mazda3 2014 is less than two weeks old and I started noticing the ticking noise yesterday. My VIN is higher than that in the TSG, however. Any suggestions? I fear the dealer may end up replacing a thousand parts unnecessarily. (They seemed to have never heard of this issue when I called)
Mazda actually revised the TSB on March 28th and it applies to more VINs now. There is a chance that your vehicle is included.

I attached the latest (revised) TSB. Hope this helps!

Howdy. First post here and unfortunately it's a negative one. I just bought a 2014 GT / Tech (Canadian) from a dealer in the Toronto area. It has 800 kms and the dash tick / pop was present from day 1. It's been dealer confirmed and even they said it was highly abnormal. It's been at the dealer for 6 days now and they have tried the TSB with negative results. They have pretty much taken the damn car apart and are now waiting for Mazda engineering to suggest the next course of action. The techs believe it is frame / body creak and not sure how to fix it. If it's in the shop for another week and no sign of remedy I'm taking Mazda to task and going to request a new vehicle. No one should pay this kind of money for a small car and have to listen to that crap non stop. My dealer has been great and contacted Mazda head office and informed them of the situation. I've been given a loaner since day 2 and they are trying hard however ultimately it's a new car and this shouldn't be happening. I mean my 2000 mustang cobra doesn't make a sound inside...and it's ale most 15 years old.

I'll keep you updated as things progress but I'm guessing Mazda new about this issue during production (or shortly thereafter - even the auto reviews mentioned an annoying dash tick in some early production models) and instead of having to issue an immediate recall they are saving money and reputation by throwing out a TSB. We will see.
Just got my ticking sound fixed yesterday, at Erin Mills Mazda. Let me see if it will come back in the future...I tried 401 Dixie Mazda last week, they spent less than an hour on it, and gave up without even trying, disappointed. Erin Mills at least tried to find the TSB and did some fix. End result is, currently the noise is no more.

I went to the dealership for the third time today. They refused to do the TSB before because they told me the Ticking noise coming from the passenger side was normal. The Mazda district manager told me today that they will perform the TSB for me, but he doesn't think it will do anything. He thinks the issue is metal under the car hitting and that they can't do anything about it. The noise didn't happen with the manager in the car with me which sucked.

I'm just happy they agreed to do the TSB for me tomorrow. If that doesn't fix the issue, I'm going to be very upset.

Just had the TSB performed and I didn't hear the constant ticking noises on my drive home. There's still an occasional tick from the center of the dash, but the constant Ticking from the passenger side seems to be gone. It only took me 4 trips to the dealer to have the TSB performed. Good luck to those of you that have issues with the dealer. I had to talk to a Mazda district manager and he agreed to do it for me when I showed him a copy of the TSB and he saw that it only takes .3 hours to complete.

Thanks much for posting the TSB here.

I went to the dealer today. It took them way more than the 0.3 hours (more like 1.3 hours :001_rolleyes: ), but they did it, no questions asked. I showed the TSB and that was it. 10 mile drive back from the dealership: no noise

Thanks so much. The updated TSB did the trick.

Is this ticking noise constant...like a lot of ticks together? Mine just started to make a tick noise at both slow and highway speeds when hitting a rough or eneven spot in the pavement. It just ticks once though, not multiple times and doesn't do it all the time either. Very sporadic. The ticking noise is coming from the front passenger area.

My ticking is getting worse...been on a long road trip and it is getting more noticeable. As I am sitting here in the car writing this (I am parked and the car is not moving) it will occasionally tick. What's up with that???

Ticking noise in dash

The ticking noise started at about 2000 km on my Mazda three. Very annoying. The nearest Mazda dealer is 300 km away and I have a appointment tomorrow to get it fixed. I am hoping it will go well and am a bit concerned about some damage in the dash area

Bring the tsb printout with you and don't let them tell you its something else. Ask to drive with the technician if u have to... That's what worked for me in the end.

Good luck.

Well. I drive a GT Tech sedan and it had the Rick from day one and got worse as time progressed Had my TSB done by the dealer 2 weeks and now it's worse than ever. The car was there over a week - see my previous posts) Tons of video and confirmed by service manager and general manager. Car now has 2000 kms and I am pissed. So the dealer is contacting Mazda on Monday to see what they recommend for a fix. If nothing is available for a fix I'm going to let them try one more time and then file for arbitration via the camvap program in Canada and not to mention some TV consumer shows are gonna get a call. Complete and utter BS. I've been researching and there were notations in online test reviews of some preproduction cars where the authors complained of a dash tick...I'm betting they knew about this while the first cars were being delivered and a TSB program was cheaper than a reengineer or recall program. Man.
