What kind of oil are you / your dealers are using in our Skyactive engines?
Did anyone do UOA (used oil analysis) yet?
How hard on oil are our high compression and direct injected engines ...?

I think proper oil may have great effect on how long these engines will last and how they will perform.

Also please keep in mind that our engines are spec'd to run on 5-30 in other world markets.

Mazda's 0-20 high molly sythentic is a great oil but it gets pricey ... what do you/your dealers use?

My dealer uses Mazda High Moly.
There is a Blackstone analysis posted elsewhere here on Mobil 1.
The Skyactive engine is built to tight tolerances and has a high rpm cold start function that takes some getting used to. I will use nothing but recommended 0w20, preferably one with a high VI, solid add pack and high moly like Mazda or Toyota.

I have also seen some high fuel dilution in recent UOA's and will take that also into consideration on intervals not pushing to 10K probably settle at 5K - 7500 miles.

Been saying that for a while but I keep getting shot down about using 0W20 synthetic . BUT , time will tell with the self appointed engine engineers that say they know more than Mazda just because they did it that way with their 1998 Honda Civic and it went 200,000 miles, without any motor repair !
They will be the first to blame Mazda for a crappy design when something goes wrong !

the book with my car says you can use 5w-20 depending on the area and driving conditions. You can probably use what ever you want as long as you change it regularly I wouldn't recommend 50w racing oil or anything like that though lol. On my first oil change "my car is at 4500 miles" I used a mobile oil filter and mobile 0w-20 oil because that was literally all they had at all three of the local parts stores. And only one of my local parts stores actually had the correct oil filter.

my dealer wanted 11bucks for 0-20 molly MAZDA oil... what a rip and they use plain jane Castrol oil.
does anyone know decent online source for Mazda moly 0-20 at around 7 usd per quart ? Penzoil Platinum 0-20 or maybe Moibil 1 AFE 0-20 or even 0-30 would be a decent choice ... I still think these thin oils no matter how advance in their additive pack are noisy and may not protect the engine as well as some 30 weight fluids like 0-30 Mobil 1 AFE ....

I used Amsoil For years in the transmissions and engines of my other vehicles and never had a problem while doing so even on the much talked about and recalled Honda Odyssey Transmission. I think the results speak for themselves. Those cars never had wear problems until they switched to whatever the local mechanic offered.

I hardly think so but talking about oil from bulk containers it has always been the practice for dealers to use bulk oil from drums rather than from quart or 4 quart containers. Not a 100% sure if still done today. Will check with my dealer at the end if the month when oil change is due. Would be one heck of a disposal issue with all those quart containers.

Mazda's new oil is light but has a very impressive VI:

Mobil 1 5W-20
SAE Grade 5W-20
Viscosity @ 100ÂşC, cSt (ASTM D445) 8.9
Viscosity, @ 40ÂşC, cSt (ASTM D445) 49.8
Viscosity Index 160

Castrol Edge
SAE Grade 0W-20
Viscosity @ 100ÂşC, cSt (ASTM D445) 8.65
Viscosity, @ 40ÂşC, cSt (ASTM D445) 45.08
Viscosity Index 174

Compare this to the recommended high moly Mazda 0W-20:
Kinematic Viscosity at 100 degrees C (cSt) 8.3
Kinematic Viscosity at 40 degrees C (cSt) 35.0
Viscosity Index 225

Viscosity Index (VI) is an arbitrary scalar value that indicates the change in an oil’s viscosity with
changes in its temperature. A high Viscosity Index indicates less viscosity change when temperature increases, indicating better resistance to thinning, for a given oil and, likely better film strength retention under heat duress.

Some of the additives (especially Moly) are off the scale compared to these other oils.
Mazda:
ZINC 842
MOLYBDENUM 664
BORON 266

Mobil1 0W-20
ZINC 787
MOLYBDENUM 54
BORON 73

Castrol Edge:
ZINC 852
MOLYBDENUM 107
BORON 113

This new moly is said to be better stuff. I'm still going to wait and use Amsoil, according to Amsoil the new moly is still under testing and has worries of clogging oil filters and other small ports over time. If indeed the new moly is better than the old stuff that was really bad for engines. Then Amsoil will use moly in there oil. I'm a skeptic on moly, it failed before and has no real world 5-10 year test results. "This is the current concerns with moly".
