No pickup after making a turn

Wonder if anyone else has experienced this?
I start my car, make a turn out of the parking lot and the car just won't move for a few seconds unless I really gun the gas pedal.
This has also happened after making a U turn.

I am careful now to make sure no car is even close to mine before making a turn so I don't get rear ended.
I hate flooring the gas on such a new car.

So then this is normal? Seems like a safety issue, I personally would prefer the engine to move when I want it to :)

Chill out dude, the Sky has trans lag so drive around it. The main deal is that in Auto mode the trans will prefer to declutch when you're making slow turns, so when you step on the gas again, the trans has to clutch in and then the engine can start revving up. Getting around that is super easy, just have your foot covering the gas pedal as soon as you're off the brake. Force the trans to clutch in and you will take care of most of the lag.

Alternatively, stop using Auto mode. In Manual mode it doesn't declutch until you're at a dead stop.

Not complaining, just inquiring. Every car has it's quirks and I want to make sure some things are normal for this car so I don't have to bug the dealer

OK, then it's normal for the car. Modern cars have so many techie things going on trying to maximize fuel economy, I'm just going to have to get used to the way it is now. With my Balt it was ready to pounce right away. Maybe that's why I averaged 23MPG-heavy foot

I'm... not selling you any more rear sway bars.

On the other hand I bet I know what turn you're talking about too, there's a slippery one in Palos Verdes my fiancee loved.

Use Manual mode to stop the problem. I always pop it into manual mode making a right hand turn in traffic and then just dump it into drive at about 4.5k.

This is what I feel happens... The car is trying to give you the best mpg possible and the instant is it rolling up gears to 2nd. But if you are creeping out to make that fast right hand turn into traffic, this can get your ass run over. So just stop it from up gearing. Pop to manual then Pop to drive.

I noticed that the tach drops when I'm driving a little harder. This morning on the way to work the tach was at a little over 500 most of the way when stopped at a light

Tach normally at 750.
If I drive on the freeway or drive ober 55 on the street, when I come to a stop at a red light the tach drops to a little above 500, sometimes it seems like it will stall but doesn't.
I've never had a car that varies at all. The Cobalt was at 800 every single time.
