It's gone from the whole line if I am not mistaken. Don't know about the cx-5 but I'm pretty sure the whole thing has been scrapped

 

Yes and a good move....admit a mistake and correct it.

 

Mazda Canada website has the 2021 CX5 GS with cylinder deactivation, so it’s not fully scraped

 

That is interesting that it's still on the cx5, but removed from all others

I also think they are doing it with the CX-30 and Mazda 3 because they are built on the same platform. CX-5 is a completely different platform.

 

I chose the Select trim in my CX-30 because it has no CD.

 

The tech is like a hybrid flex fuel or something.. not a good idea for such a small benefit.

Funny... Bottom trim GX CX-5 does not have CD... but GS trim, Kuro trim, and GT trim (when you elect to take the 4 cyl normally aspirated engine) does have CD.

Sporadic application of the evil CD....😈

 

My guess is it will eventually be fazed out on the CX-5 and 6 as they work through the left over engines. Unfortunately any engine technology to save gas mileage usually has issues. Look at direct injection, the problem with that is carbon build up. Some car companies have developed a combination of direct and port injection to combat it. I believe Mazda for the most part has the issue resolved.

 

C D if you have it remove it. On GM L engines there are videos on removal options. Mazda may a small feat. Or let the fuel continually wash you oil of the cylinder walls.

 

There is no way to delete it as of now.

 

Yeah, easier said than done. Too bad it can't be spoofed into never coming on... with no other deleterious effects.

 

Yea like the inline resistor they have for Honda's that trick the computer into thinking the engine hasn't warmed all the way. Their CD won't operate in that case

 

Just an update the 2021 Mazda 3 with AWD has cylinder deactivation. Front wheel drive models do not. For some reason the CX-30 in either AWD or FWD doesnt have it all.

 

Mazda is trying really hard to move us away from hatchbacks and sedans.
