FOR MAZDA MZD CONNECT INFOTAINMENT UPDATING ONLY for Generation 6 Mazda's ONLY

Be Advised I will No Longer offer Any Support to Mazda Owners who Do Not obtain these Genuine Mazda Firmware Files from Me.

If you Download from YouTube or Other Links then Do Not ask for any help from me if or when it goes bad. Most of the other 'suppliers' do not offer any Support or include Full Instructions and or are issuing the wrong files for your Country or car.
I am simply not prepared to waste my time when some of you are impatient and cannot wait for my reply(s).

Most PC Browsers (Google Chrome or MS Edge) offer Translation from a drop down, top far right.

WARNING: DO NOT USE ANY SMART PHONE TO DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE AND INSTALL OF FIRMWARE ONTO small USB FLASH DRIVE. ONLY USE A WINDOWS 11 PC - LAPTOP.

L00K: AS OF SEPT 2025 IN 95% OF UPDATES MOST OWNERS ONLY NEED THE ONE EASY UPDATE,
THE OLD OUTDATED 70.00.100 IN 95% OF CASES IS NOT NEEDED* AND YOU ARE AT RISK BRICKING YOUR CMU (Mazda Connect) BY INSTALLING THIS 70.00.100 TWO FILE UPDATE....
STOP Installing ANY 70.00.100 Files Unless Instructed to do so.!
PLZ STOP READING OUT OF DATE ADVISE ON WHAT TO DO.
PLS
STOP INSTALLING OLD FILES WHICH ARE NOT EVEN NEEDED.
* Only used as a transition update on cars made before 2015 and Never Updated Before.

ALERT: Many of you are downloading Mazda Firmware from You-Tube or other sources...
UNLESS You know WHAT you are doing DO NOT...!!
WHY
: Well you are either downloading Firmware for WRONG Country or Region or you are NOT Downloading the Complete Set of Files. MUST have separate Fail-Safe.up and Reinstall.up Files and YOU MUST install each in the correct order (the Smallest Fail-Safe File is First).
Only the late 70's to 74 Firmware is a ONE FILE Only Install.

RESULTS: Well many are ONLY Downloading or Installing the One OS file and Not the Other leaving you with a Mismatched CMU Versions Set-up which can be very difficult to rectify depending on the TWO Mismatch Versions, Or, Most of these are NA N for USA Canada ONLY.
-------------------------------

CARPLAYTM + ANDROID AUTO CONVERSION...Warning...!
Some of you are installing your New Aux Hub and 2 Cables BEFORE you have Updated to 74.00.324A FIRMWARE...!
Well it will Never work as YOU MUST have a working 70 to 74 Firmware installed and running in your car FIRST, AFTER that You then install your 3 new parts, AUX HUB and TWO Large USB Cables.

CP/AA will never work any other way.

If so, YOU MUST REVERSE YOUR New HARDWARE INSTALLATION BACK TO THE ORIGINAL OLD FACTORY SET-UP.

TURN ON and USE TO MAKE CERTAIN Cars 'MZD Connect' IS WORKING 'As Normal'.

Now You INSTALL the Correct 74 FIRMWARE for your Car and Region, then use it so you know your Mazda MZD Connect WORKS Normally, You will NOT See any CP/AA Until New AUX HUB is Installed.

LASTLY, YOU TURN OFF CAR AND START THE NEW 'AUX HUB' and Pair of Large USB Cables INSTALL (to the back of CMU to the back of New AUX Hub)....OK ;)
THERE ARE NO SHORT-CUTS ...

NOW YOU SHOULD SEE A WORKING CARPLAY or ANDROID AUTO in Your Mazda MZD Connect Screen.

-------------------------------

NOTE: 74.00.324A is NOW THE FINAL FIRMWARE as a Standalone Update from MAZDA as all Mazda Cars using this .up Firmware is now OUT OF Car PRODUCTION and No Longer Installed in any New Mazda's made from 2024.

Mazda no longer Issues ANY New Updates to it's Dealers past 74.00.324.
IF YOU Are Currently Using ANY Outdated 70.00.xxx's Firmware Version(s) then I strongly advise you install the Best and Last Updated Version of 74.00.324A as there are up to 50 different Bugs and Issues Fixed or Resolved between old Version(s) 70. and Latest 74.00.324.

-------------------------------

NOTE: THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE CHARGING YOU FOR THESE Firmware UPDATES IN RUSSIA or UKRAINE, eBay or Amazon, I NEVER CHARGE YOU, YOU DO NOT PAY FOR NEW FILES, EVER!

WARNING: PLEASE NOTE, IF YOU CAN NOT SUPPLY ME A PICTURE OF THE CARS EXISTING FIRMWARE VERSION in Your Mazda via a PRIVATE MESSAGE to me to VERIFY I CAN NOT ISSUE YOU THE GENUINE MAZDA CONNECT UPDATE FILE(S).

NOTE: MY REPLY to YOU can take up to 18 Hours as I am in Australia, be patient. Do Not download Firmware Files from any other Websites as they offer zero support and usually only One of the three Regions.

Image

YES, you MUST Install correct 74.00.324A (74.00.324) Firmware FIRST for your Region and Run/Use it in your car for as long as you like....you DO NOT Have to do the new Aux Hub Conversion for CP/AA, but by Installing 74.00.324 your car has the best bug free Mazda MZD Connect available, this Single .up File is VERY EASY to Install, 97% of ALL Gen 6 Mazda's Only Need to update with this ONE File.

REGIONS..
for FIRMWARE Download are...

4A N (ADR)
is for Australia-NZ, Asia (except Japan +China), Middle East, Brazil, Chile, Pacific Oceania.
EU N is for Europe and UK.
NA N is for North America, USA, Canada, Mexico.
JP M is for Japan only, nobody has any copies, please do not ask me.

NOTE: AFTER this 74.00.324A Firmware install and in normal use You Will NOT see any information about CP/AA UNTIL and AFTER you install (fit) the THREE Genuine Mazda Parts LAST, you will then see the working CP/AA User Interface (UI) after you have installed latest App on your Phone and Connected Phone to AUX HUB with USB media cable.
Make sure your 'Android Auto' Phone App is also the very latest update available too.
Only use the Genuine or Quality Phone Power Lead/Cable that came with Phone between the Phones Port and the new Mazda 'AUX Hub' on Wired Connections Only.

YES, you MUST Purchase the Three Genuine Mazda Parts and then Fit them LAST.
1 X AUX Hub Box.
1 X New Cable Set of 2.

'Start Conversation' or Message me if you want 74.00.324A link, click on my AVATAR.

This Thread is NOT for Tweaks or ANY other way to install CP/AA (which does not work anyway and usually will end up costing you more $$s).
See Genuine CP/AA Kit Pic.

TAKE NOTE!!! :
You can not rename THE downloaded File Name whatsoever.
You can not have ANY OTHER file or files or folders on the USB Flash Drive.
You Do not have anything connected to other USB Ports.
You must ONLY have the correct .up file(s) on a small FAT32 (about 16GB) Flash Drive, file CAN NOT be in a .zip or .rar format
ONLY in .up file.

IF still having issues of car CMU not seeing files on your USB Flash Drive when you plug into console port remove Drive and do a Full FAT32 RE-FORMATTING of your USB Flash Drive and Copy/Paste the .up File into Flash Drive again.
On a Windows PC do this to format..
Put small 16GB USB Drive into Windows USB Port, go to Start, This PC, RIGHT Click on the Flash Drive, Select Format.., Select FAT32, Select Start, click OK, all files on Drive will be Deleted and Drive Re-Formatted (cleaned).
Then Copy/Paste the new Firmware file(s) ONLY onto clean Flash Drive, remove from PC and try in your car USB Port again.

THE TYPES OF USB FLASH DRIVES YOU MUST USE....
Image

IF you are using any MacOS PC to download file then that WILL also corrupt your Flash Drive as Macs INSTALL a ''hidden file'' onto YOUR flash drive and the car CMU will not see THE file.

MAZDA ONLY supports MS-Intel Windows 64bit OS and is used by all car makers for Diagnostic and Maintenance UPDATES in their Automobiles.

Apple (Mac) systems is not supported or used by any car brands in Service Departments or for Diagnostics, period.

IF YOU ARE STILL HAVING ISSUES OF YOUR MAZDAs CMU NOT SEEING YOUR USB FLASH DRIVE with .up Files THEN CHANGE YOUR FLASH DRIVE BRAND or USE A DIFFERENT FLASH DRIVE and START AGAIN!.

CHANGELOG, see the NA N changelog in post #4 Below, although for North America all of the specific changes apply to EU N and 4A N too.
Improved symptoms-fixes depend on cars current software version.

-------------------------------------------------------------

WIRELESS carplaytm-androidauto is INCLUDED WITH GENUINE 74.00.324A FIRMWARE for your region which is also a normal Update progression from the now outdated software in your car.

HOWEVER one Must Also Purchase a New CMU from a 2021 ~ Model for OPTIONAL GENUINE MAZDA Wireless CP specific car and CMU as Not ALL 2021~ Models come standard from factory with a Wireless CP CMU.

GENUINE WIRELESS CARPLAY
WILL NOT WORK ALONE WITHOUT this 74 Firmware and a NEW CMU (one meant for WCP), as far as I know those TWO things are all that are required with some minor cable port plug in modifications, the Firmware is Free and a New WCP CMU is about $800 USD FOR THE GENUINE MAZDA WIRELESS SYSTEM.

NOTE: NONE-GENUINE WIRELESS AUX HUBS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FROM ONLINE SELLER SINCE MID 2022, YOU MUST STILL PURCHASE WITH THEIR KIT WITH 2 LARGE CABLES + NEW AUX HUB.

7 OPTIONS ARE EITHER A GENUINE WIRED AUX HUB SYSTEM TO YOUR PHONE; or NON-GENUINE WIRELESS CARPLAY AUX HUB TO YOUR PHONE; or NON-GENUINE WIRELESS ANDROID-AUTO AUX HUB TO YOUR PHONE.
WHATEVER SETUP YOU BUY YOU MUST STILL PRIOR INSTALL REGION CORRECT 74.00.324A FIRMWARE BEFORE YOU INSTALL ANY AUX HUB KIT.

74.00.324A Firmware is now the Final (last) version available.

NOTE: ONLY, Repeat ONLY THE 2014 -2015 MAZDA 3 REQUIRES Three FULL VERSION UPDATES AS Most have Never Been Updated at a Mazda Dealership from Brand New.
YOU MUST Determine WHAT VERSION is Currently working in your Mazda 3.
Then AFTER You Know what Version is in car you then Proceed with the Genuine Mazda Firmware Updates.

PLEASE DO NOT OBTAIN FIRMWARE FROM YOU-TUBE LINKS AS THIS PERSON IS ONLY CATERING FOR North American OWNERS.

IF your Mazda 3 is BELOW Version 31.00.100 like 25.00.200 or 28.00.100 or 30.00.300 then you FIRST Must update to 31.00.100, this is a MANDATORY Three (3) Version Update.
After 31.00.100 is up and working you then MUST Update to Version 70.00.100 and briefly use it so you know it is working normally.
THEN Update to the Final and BEST Version of 74.00.324...
See the Three (3) Firmware Version Updates 31.00.100, 70.00.100 and 74.00.324.

AFTER 74.00.324 is install and Working you will not see Carplay/Android-Auto ANYTHING!
as you MUST then INSTALL the 3 Main Hardware Parts.
1 x New 'Aux Hub' of Your Choosing from say AMAZON or eBay.
2 x Pair of long Large USB Cables.
AFTER the Installation of this NEW Hardware
you will Then see the Working Carplay or AA depending on what NEW AUX Hub Module your purchased and fitted.
YOU MUST INSTALL NEW 74 FIRMWARE BEFORE YOU INSTALL NEW AUX HUB Hardware.

There are Now the Original (Genuine) Hard Wired Connections to your Phone and it's Phone App and the New 'Aux Hub'.
Or Wireless Bluetooth Connection from New BT Aux Hub and hardwired from AUX Hub and CMU which still must be done for ALL Wireless or Wired CP/AA to work.
There are Now about 7 Different Combinations of New Aux Hubs, with either with CarPlay, or with Android Auto, or with BOTH, and Wireless or Wired.
Only the Wired Connection to Phone is the 'Genuine Mazda' Set-up, Mazda's WIRELESS Version is done Via expensive wireless CMU and not wireless AUX Hub.
Wireless Aux Hubs are NOT GENUINE MAZDA, However I have not encountered any defective ones, they all work very well provided YOU have done everything Correctly.

EDIT: MAY, 2025.
As invention proceeds the current Non-Genuine AUX HUBs with Bluetooth Wireless for either CarPlayTM and or Android Auto (or Both) are today extremely good and I would recommend the full installation of. These can be purchased from Amazon, eBay, Alibabi, etc, these Kits come complete with the two large and neccessary USB Cables from CMU to new the AUX HUB.
Firmware still needs to be Downloaded (obviously I recommend you qualify your current version in car first and contact me to determine the correct Firmware update procedures) there are basically 3 different set types depending current in car Versions and your living Country and Region and model year of your Mazda.

In 2025 most Mazda Models Only need the easy One Firmware Update of 74.00.324 (The Final and Latest).
Mazda's Currently Below Versions 55.00.650 or 56.00.100 (Depending on Region) only need 2 Firmware Updates.
ONLY Mazda 3s Currently Below 31.00.100 Require the 3 separate and mandatory Firmware Update Files.
Mazda 3's needing the 3 separate updates has Never Been Updated in it's life.

Again Privately Message Me to Determine your cars correct Procedures, I do Not Guess anything so please do not expect me to. These are Mazda Dealer ONLY Updates which are very easy but are unforgiving if your error or do not pay attention.
FIRMWARE IS NOT A 'SET and FORGET IT' UPDATING,
MOST VERSION UPDATES TAKE AROUND 45-55 Minutes EACH to Perform.

which are no longer in Vehicle Production.

------------------------------------------------------------

ALL 74.00.324 FIRMWARE INCLUDES the Software for
CAR PLAY + ANDROID-AUTO....But...

For the CP/AA CONVERSION TO ACTUALLY WORK IN YOUR MAZDA You MUST HAVE THE Three ''GENUINE MAZDA PARTS'' INSTALLED AFTER any of the 74.00.324 is installed and or WORKING in YOUR CAR FIRST.

THERE ARE NO SHORT CUTS or OTHER BRAND PARTS...None, So DO NOT ASK Me.

YOU MUST PURCHASE and INSTALL the Three GENUINE MAZDA PARTS LAST, Meaning AFTER you have Firmware 74.00.324 working in car like Normal.
Carpland and Android Auto will Activate ON SCREEN Once you have install the Three new Parts.

DO NOT INSTALL THESE NEW PARTS FIRST or BEFORE ANY 74 FIRMWARE OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THESE NEW PARTS, RE-INSTALL THE OLD PARTS, AND THEN START AGAIN.
# 74.00.324 FIRMWARE Working FIRST.
# New AUX HUB and Two USB Cable Parts LAST.

YOU CAN NOT SEPARATE THIS CARPLAY and or ANDROID-AUTO AS THEY ARE BOTH INSTALLED WITH all 74.00.324 FIRMWARE.

CARPLAY and ADROID-AUTO WILL NEVER WORK WITHOUT THESE Three ''MAZDA PARTS'' Finally INSTALLED Last and AFTER new 74 Firmware...PERIOD.

WCP or Wireless Car Play is included in all 74.00.324 Firmware, BUT You MUST also use a special ALL NEW 2021~ CMU meant for the WCP use, price is around $800 USD.

ALSO NOTE: Do not Rely on your Mazda Dealer to Update your Firmware for Mazda MZD Connect as most never will unless you complain of a specific issue or fault.

#103 ·
For NORTH AMERICA ONLY with Sirius Satellite Services.
It appears that the following is happening to all new US Mazda models from 2019 onward.....

Some users may have one or more of the following 5 complaints:

Infotainment system reboots at times while in use.
SiriusXM function grayed out.
SiriusXM stops playing.
No sound from SiriusXM but other sources work.
SiriusXM system recovers after ignition OFF->ON.

Mazda is aware of these issues and is working on a repair procedure, probably Firmware update.

An interim/temporary solution is available for the Sirius-XM problem...
1. Install the SiriusXM App on the user device.
2. The customer can stream music on the SiriusXM App temporarily until the final repair is made available.

Hi there
do you know if after updating the firmware to 70.00.335C one can install android auto without having to do a serial connection..... android auto is no longer available on play store, what other options
Thanks

1. Yes & Yes.

2. Other way: Disassemble/uninstall the console/front console. See the signature of ASH8 (above) for a link to more details about retrofitting AA/CP. And in this link you can find a lot of trim removal PDFs and Videos for retrofitting AA/CP: HiDrive
Tristan, how did you manage to install the auto shifter knob back in? I put everything back but I am unable to push the button back in because of interference shown in the diagram below... the plastic arm that is supposed to be below like shown in the picture is pulled out above and is unable to be reduced under...

thanks for your input

Does anyone have any tips on installing the Mazda 3 Automatic gear knob back on? I was able to take it off without any problem but unable to put the knob back on. I put the metal clip back in there to secure the knob to the shifter, placed the plastic button, and I thought I just had to push the button back into the knob but I am unable to push the button back in. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
Any help please? Can’t drive the car like this, haha

I put the cap on the white thing which stands out and push it in hard/with force or use a screwdriver to push the top white thing down/in. In my CX-5 it looks a little different I think, that`s why you might have the problem. I do not have any info about how to do it at Mazda 3, sorry. Perhaps someone else can help.

And here at the trim removal PDFs of the Mazda 3 it looks to be the same as at the CX-5, but according to your photo, it is not the same, if you compare it to my photos of the CX-5.

These Details are ONLY for Genuine Mazda Factory Install of Car Play and Android Auto.

YES, you MUST Install correct 70's Firmware FIRST for your Region.
YES, you MUST Purchase the Two Genuine Mazda Parts and then Fit them LAST.

ALL the information on what to do is in the PDF in my Signature Below.

This Thread is NOT for Tweaks or ANY other cheap way to install CP/.AA.
I have 2016 Mazda 3 firmware 59. What is that bp mean?

What's the genuine mazda part needed?
So basically even if I upgrade successfully if I didn't install that mazda part I basically wasted my time. LOL.

All I want is to have android auto on my car. What is the best way to go? Install the tweak or update officially?

Part numbers etc. for official retrofit are linked in Ash8's signature - just follow the link and click the first folder AA... for more info.

Thanks. Wow. Official Upgrade is definitely not the way to go for me. I've to buy and install a new usb port . For aa to work. Nope.
