Hi all,
I recently having issues with my Mazda 3 Automatic Gearbox. It started to shift rough (like you drop the clutch on manual gearbox). The car is Skyactiv Diesel 2.2 - 2015 with 170K km. Oil of Gearbox never changed, according to Mazda it shouldn't be changed. And this behavior started recently and getting more prominent with the time.
The weird issue is that when I pull the lever to manual mode, and shift gears myself (using paddles or shift lever) it shift gears absolutely flawless, no hesitation, no jerkiness, it is very smooth, but if I leave the car changing gears in auto mode it is very unpleasant, jerky feeling on every gear change.

Any remote idea of what is going on will be helpful, as per my understanding if you have a "bad" gearbox it is bad regardless if you shift gears manually or automatically, there should be no difference.

Thanks

Don't use the machine, they can create problems as they put pump pressure on the transmission internals. Although some would disagree, I've always used the cooler line to flush a transmission. Drain pan, drop and replace filter first. Refill. Outlet into a drain pan and just start the car. The second it spits you turn it off. Refill and repeat. It's a messy and time consuming job. I always jack up the car on top of a big tarp for that one. Always done me well.

Well, I'm definitely not a mechanic and had no tools to perform the operation, but asked because there are two type of changing oil service for an automatic gearbox.

Anyone of you think this could fix/mitigate the problem explained or it is just a maintenance that is good to carry on?

it's possible. i'd want to see if the trans is throwing any codes first, but besides that it is often said that the first step in troubleshooting is doing a flush.

that being said, there could very well be something else going on. an automatic transmission is an extremely complex machine and therefore can be very difficult to diagnose.
