I've been digging around and have found some fun facts on our 6spd transmission (and 5spd). It apears that the transmission is a variation of the "G" series Mazda gear box and used in anything from the Protege to 323, Mazda 3,Mazda 5, Mazda 6i, MX-3, 626, and a few Fords.

What does this mean?

I found the part# for the differential in our car shares the same part# as the Gen1 Mazda3 5spd (GC0627180).... Which happens to have a few limited slip differentials available for it. Quaife, MFactory, KAAZ and possibly a few more! W just need someone to be the Guinea pig to see if its possible for sure

Also the g66m-r 6spd used in the 2012 Mazda5 and 2009+ Mazda6 have a few different gear ratios. Which may lead to a possible gear swap. Looks as though the 2012 Mazda5's 5th and 6th Gear would do some good in lowering 5th and 6th gear RPM's a highway speeds!

Mazda3 Mazda6 Mazda5
1st----3.45----3.45----3.45
2nd----2.06----1.84----1.84
3rd----1.39----1.31----1.23
4th----1.03----1.03----0.91
5th----0.84---- 0.84----0.76
6th----0.72---- 0.72---- 0.68
Final----4.11----4.39----4.11

Gear swap- looking bright:yes:

I have been looking into the LSD for a long time now. I even asked Quaife for help and there were able to provide some technical drawings for me to compare with. If I had the funds I would rip into that bad boy right now to get it. Who wants to start a buy me a LSD fund

The LSD would allow both wheels to put power down as opposed to all the power going to the wheel thats spinning the most. So therefore when your going around a corner you wont feel that loss of power. Also me thinks that having an LSD will keep the DSC from cutting power when it senses wheel spin.

I have the funds. The only thing holding me back on this is the lack of a clutch kit... same reason I haven't jumped at the flywheel. I hate having to tear into things more than once if its not necessary. If there was a clutch kit for sure I'd do the flywheel and while I had the tranz out I'd do the differential too.

I'm going to get a junkyard 2010+ and a 04-09 clutch and compare them dimensionally. Mazda has a different part number for the disk and pressure plate between the 2 generations but it is possible it might still bolt up. Wont know until someone tries....

From what Fidanza told me the Parts are very very close but no cigar. When I did the R&D for the Flywheel I sent them a stock flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and bolts.

That sucks! ACT and Exedy need to stop dragging ass... I mean ACT already has a kit for the 2011 Mazda2!!! WTF!!! What about the 3 6spd!!!

I know and I approached but of them before I went to Fidanza. all they said was that they will get to it when they do. Maybe I'll give Fidanza a call tomorrow and see about getting a clutch kit into production from them. thats pretty much what everybody is waiting for right?

I can only speak for myself...but that's what I'm waiting on. That or when I blow the stock clutch I'll do the flywheel.

Have you tried Clutch Masters they are in Rialto, CA.

Yeah I tried them too. No dice. I can try them all again if Fidanza still doesn't want to do the clutch. I do still have the stock clutch and pressure plate kicking around.
