You can downgrade it yourself, but you need the .up files to do such. Then you can follow the reflash procedure that is outlined in one of the service bulletins. I think v27 was posted in there somewhere... Sorry, I don't have time to look, at work.

 

Should I go back to v29 or v27? When i got my car, it was v29, so i guess lowest i can go is v29?

 

Based off the other post it might be better to wait for v31 with wifi enabled. A nice walk through of how to update would be helpful though. It's probably buried in the other thread too.

Yes, he has v31 with WiFi enabled. He hasn't posted his .up file yet but once he does you can download it and follow the instructions in the pdf to load it.

 

It's IMPORTANT to remember.. a simple mistake can cost you a LOT of money since there is NO WAY to recover your infotainment system if something goes wrong.

I didn't realize until he posted more information that you had to have the hacked v29 first. Still, all the information is there now at least.

Right now, not that we know of. There may be a way to force the system to boot into the failsafe mode but it's not openly known what that is.

If you do somehow mess the system up, your best bet is to plead ignorance and pretend like you don't even know what an operating system is. A large majority of maintenance techs are not going to be able to tell the difference between bad hardware and messed up software and will just replace the CMU unit whole. You'll probably have to wait for the part to be shipped in first though.

I'm pretty sure if it messes up the IT , the only way to get it back will be replacement.
the failsafe is hard coded into the Update, and unless the application calls for it, i don't believe it will be accessable.
From my understanding a reflash of the CMU would be required, using the JTAG port on the CMU itself.
The JTAG port looks like it is Heavily passworded, so I'm almost positive it would need to go back to Mazda for repair (meaning the Tech would probably replace it as he has no way too diagnose)

With that being said --

its a 50/50 chance it will work, with the most probable being the CMU will reject the .UP file as no failsafe for version 29 is currently available.
If it does accept it though.. you really don't need the whole program to work. You just need wifi and ssl access so you can upgrade to ver 31 with wifi and the other mods.

hopefully someone will post a complete version of 29 at some point but currently that is where anyone on version 31 stands.


on a side note:
it may just be wiser to be patient and see if the .UP file can be recoded to accept an already hacked version... to each their own.

I have the opposite problem.

I just picked up my car today and it's on v25. Is there anyway to upgrade to v29? Since the dealers have v31, I doubt they'd would do me a favor and flash a lower version.

 

You could download v29 (see this post from the infotainment project thread) and risk updating yourself ...you would be the first to tell us if it works. We would all like to know but we are afraid to brick our infotainment.

 

Read the TSB 09-034-13-2831b (last PDF in this other thread) for a full explanation.

Be cautious, there is a genuine risk to brick the infotainment if anything goes wrong.

 

thanks will take a look. although the v29 download doesn't look like the filenames in the tsb. failsafe and reinstall. gotta figure it out and then decide.
