As temperatures are dropping in the East Coast, I noticed that heated steering wheel parts are listed and available in US parts departments (likely thanks to Canada). Has anyone looked into having this installed DIY or by their dealer?

I'm wondering about the wiring, and not bold enough to go taking mine apart to find out ... yet. Also, I think there's supposed to be a switch specifically for turning on the heated steering wheel, just to the left of the Driver's heated seat switch.

I really would have liked the heated windshield. Had it in my last car and it was great.

Yep, that's my concern. I could only find the center switches w. and w/o heated seats on the US parts website; none of them mentions a switch for the heated steering wheel.

For wiring, my thought is that they use a single wiring harness that supports all features and leave the unequipped features unplugged.
In my non-HUD equipped Mazda 3, I found connectors that were taped up (which, I presume, would be used for the HUD unit); that hints to me the wiring harness could also be pre-wired for the heated steering wheel.
If that isn't the case, then the retrofit would become much more costly and cumbersome.
