Has anyone noticed a rattle like something's loose when you hit some bumps coming from the B pillar on the driverside? I thought it was the seatbelt assembly but I had someone hold onto it and it seemed to be coming from somewhere else in the pillar close to the top.

So according to the dealer there isn't any rattle that they could make out and in all honesty i couldn't hear anything in normal drives either. They suggested I let them look at it again when it gets cold so they can add foam/dampening to the affected areas.

As for wind noise they noted it as "comparable to other mazda 3s" so I'll just continue to drown out any wind noise with music haha

If you're referring to the side air bags in the a-pillar, they're not a huge issue. There is some room around them to place sound damping material if you have noise from there but I haven't noticed any.

I haven't checked the b-pillar, but I'm inclined to believe the previous post that they're in the seats.

Rattles are easier to diagnose when it's cold because plastic gardens and shrinks a bit.

I'd recommend going when it's below -5° that way they can apply foam to affected areas. I only notice them over large bumps and usually drown them out with music haha. They're nowhere as bad as my old 6 that was half ford tho?

i had the seatbelt pillar sound dampened by dealer. so far it's good.

BUT i have other rattles coming from the airbag dash area, even though i'd been to the dealer multiple times for it. they tightened the brackets, but i just can't escape rattles in that zone.
one is a buzzing sound
another is a bouncing plastic tapping sound

even though they seem willing to help, i drive away with a fix that lasts only 1 week.
i think it's time to give up.

I removed the cover found out the white plastic part and very loose spring made a lot of noise. Basically, when I knock the rest part of B pillar, the spring will make noise, some times driving on the coarse road surface, and even too windy will make spring vibrate and make noise. Don't know what can i do since the dealership not going to do anything with it.

I had a look at this today too as I have a slight rattle on the drivers side. Unfortunately there are a few things it could be in there. There are two springs. One to tension the height adjuster (white plastic) and there is also a second one that holds the seat belt fascia adjustment plate in place (black plastic). There is a felt pad that puts pressure on this so that it doesn't vibrate when it moves up and down. It may be that the felt needs to be thicker to stop rattling. The other thing I noticed, which you can see in Oscura's photo, is that there is a two part black metal track that moves up and down as you adjust the height. On its lower settings there seems to be a bit more play between these two pieces. It isn't obvious as to how you would fix this without hampering the slide mechanism but perhaps some thicker grease to hold the two parts together could work. Will see how it goes and apply one of both of these fixes if it gets worse.

After taking one b-pillar apart to have a look and putting it back together my rattle seems to have gone. I had a slight rattle from both sides and there is only one simple thing I did to the b-pillar that may have made a difference. At the top of the b-pillar you will see an rectangular piece with Airbag written on it. This piece is a cover and underneath it is the attachment screw that holds the top of the b-pillar cover to metal b-pillar behind it. When I put it back in place I added some tesa adhesive cloth tape behind the cover so that it clipped in more securely. From memory it is the 18mm wide tesa tape. Since doing that I haven't heard any more rattles. It could be that this piece rattles around against the plastic b-pillar itself given how small and light it is and how small the mounting tabs are. If you use a plastic trim removal tool to take it off and then apply a small piece of tesa or even electrical tape it may help address this. It is a simple one minute job so give it a go. If you are hearing a rattle towards the top of the b-pillar this may be your issue.

Hi guys, I brought my car to the dealership for three times but...nothing the rattle came back every time. I decided to do by myself. But i found the first problem trying to disassemble the b-pillar. I seen the word "airbag" and i don't know if is safe ramove the cover or is necessary deactivate the airbags. How did you do it?

I have notice that the rattle is not from the B pillar but is from door/window. If i try to push the closed door when i am driving the rattle disappear. If i try to hit with punch the closed door i can hear the rattle but not when the door is opened.
If i open the window i have no rattle. Iwill try to put some foam between the door and b pillar and try to drive.
I think that the rattle is in the upper left corner of the window.
Ah....another things... i can hear the rattling when steering weel vibrating for lane invasion
