Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost for a brand new 2.5L engine for a mazda 3, including install through a mazda dealership?

Any info. would be appreciated.

Will have to find out the full details - I wasn't driving the vehicle, but it looks like some debris was ran over on the hwy and it broke the engine oil filter and the pipe that it's connected to (this is coming from the mechanic - I'm not familiar with engine parts), so all the engine oil came out while the car was on the hwy and driven at hwy speed - the mechanic further said, because the engine was still driven, with very little to no oil, the engine seized and is now damaged beyond repair and will need to be replaced. The insurance adjustor will still have to take a look at the vehicle though, so this diagnosis might change.

ouch. probably ran something over that snapped the oil filter right off the housing, the housing threaded part is pretty weak ( I broke mine overtightening my oil filter with my hands )
how long was it driven when all the oil came out? just until it froze up? speed shouldn't make the engine a kill / no kill. rpm should. but anyway i would say bare minimum the shortblock is toast. if a new shortblock only, i'm guessing 4000 minimum. but your insurance should cover it if you were driving and just ran something over.
my friend ran over a huge ass rock in his truck, cracked his oil pan, and his rear diff housing, told the insurance he hit a big rock, they covered everything, and his car was older then this they didn't "deem it a loss" they replaced his engine cuz all his oil leaked out and his rear diff. totally cost was like 7500$ and the car was only worth 12k

side note, anyone have any idea where all these dead engines go? I want one to rip apart and inspect

i'm not sure how long it was driven as I wasn't driving. Enough that there was a burning smell when the vehicle was pulled over - how long would it take to ruin an engine? something was definitely ran over - a downed hwy pylon but not sure at this point. sounds good thanks for the info.

how long? well with zero oil pressure, zero oil, hmm ( my guess of damage )
- driving time- zero oil
within 10 seconds : i'm 99% sure all 4 rod bearings are toast---- fixable, not too much damage
within 30 seconds : scored cylinder walls, cylinder liners, piston skirts Piston rings--------- fixable, possibly / new shortblock
within 1 minute : Scored / friction heat burned Crank / rods--------------new Shortblock + timing chain
within 1 minute 30 seconds : scored cams possibly stuck valves--- new shortblock + valves + valve guides + cams + timing chain
within 2 minutes : piston wristpin slap, ruined ( probably sooner then 2 minutes )-----------new shortblock ( if zero head damage )
within 3 minutes : toasted beyond repair : Crank, rods, pistons, cylinder liners, bearings, oil pump, ---------------- complete new engine w/o engine accessories
within 5 minutes : timing chain snaps, valves hit pistons, completely dead engine beyond repair.------------------ complete new engine + accessories

this is my guess, but Probably accurate.
