Hi, Thanks for all the details! based on the pictures i traced the connector to a GT17H/HN series from hirose

Then I managed to find this cable, with a much nicer price tag and everything already done :)

It worths to try if it works when i connect an iphone via usb directly.

I ordered it. lets see...

Hi Guys,

had the opportunity to install the cable in the car but unfortunately it does not trigger anything related with carplay :(
At least i can fast charge the phone with it. ( i had to switch the v+ and v- in the cable header before installing)

I left the cable connected so later i'll see with lsusb what new devices are detected by the cmu.

Hi, is there any progress?

Hi,

Finally got the opportunity to test the system response to the Iphone connection with a direct link to the head unit.

Before connecting Iphone:

/tmp/root # lsusb
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002

Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0424:4040
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 154b:6000

After connecting Iphone

/tmp/root # lsusb

The message:
[ 527.402635] usb 1-1: Device is not authorized for usage

can be overcome by perfoming the following command:

# echo 0 > ./sys/devices/platform/fsl-ehci.0/usb1/authorized_default

However, the feeling is that the newest usb hub must trigger some menu activation procedure so carplay option becomes elegible...

By navigating in the JCI folder scripts, I found some info regarding the carplay activation. However, instead of brute forcing its availability, I would rather find starting point that triggers all the menu validations.
I'm not proficient in that type of scripts so I leave it for someone that can deal with it properly, or at least with a spare hmi...

regards

The pins/terminals are working fine: The cables end on the other side in the fuse box area of the driver legroom, where also ground is available. Yesterday I connected them with a CP2102 serial converter and tested putty. It works. I did not copy/paste any command, as I am still on FW 56.xx and do not know what happens, if I use the commands with my FW.

For 70.00.335 and 70.00.352 you have to use the new ID7v2 process: www.mazdatweaks.com/id7 . It is not possibile to do the serial access at .335 and .352 via the old ID7 process (login with user/password).
password password
login incorrect

You misunderstood me. The serial connection/login via user and password is NOT possible at .335/.352 anymore. It does not matter which user or password you try. Only after the serial access that might work again.

Try the new process ID7v2 I linked above.
