This is for anyone who is interested in the quality of the Bayson R MZ Style front lip.
It is ABS plastic, and initial fit is very good. I have installed aftermarket lips for various cars, and most need some trimming or fine tuning to fit properly. This one didn't need any trimming. I did sand the edges because of some plastic burring. The side area where the lip meets the wheel well is a separate piece of plastic that is plastic welded in place. This is the only part that looks a bit weak, but some JB Weld might reinforce this area (Not sure if I will go this route). The lip seems to use existing clips and bolts to mount to the vehicle, so no drilling of the bumper is necessary. The Bayson R lip does come with the rubber adhesive strip that covers the edges of the lip that come in contact with the bumper. Also included is double sided tape. No instructions are included but installation seems straight forward.
Only two plastic welds to attach the side area to the wheel well. Metal tabs (which are covered with masking tape) are uses existing bolts.
This is a replica of the OEM appearance package lip with some differences. First off, the middle of the lip does not have the "column" that rises to split the front opening. Second, the sides of the lip have raised decorative pieces that the OEM lip does not have. I actually prefer this style because my bumper have gouges in that area from the previous owner hitting something. The decorative pieces hide them nicely.
This is the decorative side piece that is the main difference to the OEM counterpart.
While the lip is gloss black, it will need paint because bare ABS plastic will yellow over time. The plastic did have some light scratches that needed to be covered anyways. These scratches probably came from shipping, as the lip was not securely packaged. It was in a plastic wrap but not bubble wrap.
To be continued... as the lip will be painted.
