So far I do not know anything about the firmware version.
At least it`s new hardware (display and CMU). Some more information regarding the MZD II - see post here and post here. As the MZD II connectors are other and not fitting the MZD I, unfortunately it is not possible to exchange a MZD I with a MZD II.

 

I wonder why they brought back the coolant temperature gauge?

 

You probably agree they never should have taken it away in the first place, but in their infinite wisdom with the 2014 redesign they probably assumed only idiots drive their cars now...thus we only need 32+ idiot lights. I miss an ALT gauge too.

 

I just got the information from my dealer that this new MZD II in the new Mazda 3 has firmware version "10011" installed. So it seems to be a complete new firmware and not to be compatbile with the FW from MZD I (e.g. 70.00.100). Unfortunately. So the firmware update release rate for the MZD I might slow down.

Please find attached some photos of the MZD II from the new Mazda3.

My dealer told me the following:
- The round circle in the top left of the display is the camera for fatigue recognition
- The square at the bottom right of the display inhabits 2 infrared lights, so that the camera works properly in darkness. If you take a photo with flash, you see the two red dots in the square
- You can choose in settings which metric should be used for the tire pressure, but there was no menu for viewing the current tire pressure
- The cameras (360) are very clear sharp

No, as all the connectors of the CX-5 II KF 2017-2019 are the same as for the CX-5 I KE 2014-2017. All of those have the MZD I and thus all have the same connectors and same CMU. The MZD II has a totally different menu and connectors (and software). An upgrade will not be possible - unfortunately.
