2010 3i Fog Light Installation Guide (with pics!)

I finally decided to go ahead and install fogs on my 2010 3i. I'd been hoping someone would do a write-up first because I wasn't sure if I could do this, but got antsy and did it myself over the weekend.

All in all, the install went without a hitch and turned out to be a fun weekend project (and a good way to save $160 on installation costs). It's pretty much wrenching and plug 'n play, which anyone can do. If you're anything like me, you should set aside a few hours to do this -- but keep in mind I'm quite a bit slower and meticulous/organized than most when I do this sort of thing. Especially since I hadn't taken the front bumper off previously. It's less intimidating than it initially seems, and isn't difficult by any stretch with good instructions.

Below are some pics and (and words too!) regarding the install. Probably in more detail than is necessary. I hope it gives the more hesitant among you an idea of what to expect, to motivate you to give it a shot yourself, and to elucidate any issues one might encounter along the way.

But who am I kidding? Most of you are probably zipping around in your fancy GT model while I sob myself to sleep every night. :crybaby 1: :wink 1:

1) The Parts:

(Fog Lamp Enclosures, Lamp Hole Covers, Bumper Covers, Wiring Harness, Turn Signal Stalk, and Hardware).

Amazingly, the fog lamp enclosure included some Sylvania bulbs already pre-installed, but I'd previously bought some whiter high temp ones without this knowledge. I'll keep the Sylvi's for spares, unless anyone here want to buy them off of me at an exorbitant price. Shipping is only $75. PM me for bids.

2) Before:

The poor filthy cover had no idea of its soon-to-be fate -- to be heartlessly discarded and never washed again. To live out its days enclosed within a cardboard box inside a closet -- soiled without the comforts of bubble wrap or packing peanuts.

Does the fog light kit come with any instructions. Can you do it yourself or do you need to take it to a dealership (I dont know much about these things, but I can plug things in)

And the biggest question, are these fog lights any good.

You can do it yourself, very easy. Comes with complete instructions, you have to remove your front bumper cover, but this is rather easy on these cars.

And the biggest question, are these fog lights any good.
Yes they work just fine, they are adjusted very low from the factory; so just raising them up will greatly improve them, if you want more- a simple HID kit for them will improve them further.

hey can you tell me the part number for the turn signal stalk and the Wiring Harness please thank you =]

Hey Guys

Can anyone list the part numbers? I have a 2010 Mazda 3 NEO (Base model in Australia) and the Mazda dealers here are just rubbish. I have ordered all parts but now have 3 sets of the black plastic mounts as the dealer keeps ordering in the wrong one and tells me too bad it was a special order i cant refund the money....

Please help guys i've already wasted over $200 on parts i dont need.... :(

did the 2012, 5-Door

Installation took about 2 hours and 3 beers with my pops. Old man was just grabbing tools and helped me take the bumper off so it wouldn't get damaged, but other than that this is pretty much a one man job. The only part that took a while was fitting the wiring on the car, the wiring on the bumper was cake though.

instructions were clear.

now all i need is to do the window tint.

I did this install last night as well. Upgraded the fogs to 6000K HIDs. Had to do this at night time because its too damn hot during the day.

However, I wish the fog light install didn't require bumper removal. My other car was 1000X simpler than this.

Damn, I got this kit but broke the driver side bezel the other day. Can anyone hook me up with a part number or anything?

#104 ·
I managed to find a part number, but it was painful. Not available on ebay. My bezel is this style - no mazda3s came from the factory with this bezel. Only came as an upgrade kit

#105 ·
What style? I don't see anything?

#106 · (Edited)
Do you see how the bezels have horizontal fins? -- Sorry, I forgot to paste in the link before  see below

#107 ·
This style is easy to find bezels for:

This style is not, because every 3 (with this style) that rolled off the factory looked like this one, none had fog lights. If you wanted fog lights, you got the style above.

Haha, so I just gave the part number to the guy at mazda, and it was $6. I was kind of concerned because he couldnt show me a picture of it (Not documented in FSM / whatever they use) and the price was so low....but its the right one!

Well if you are trying to upgrade, you will still need the bezels and harness. It may be worth it to piece together though. And those don't appear to have a switch. I'm going to sell my switch if you're interested

One more thing, it doesn't look like these are oem Mazda

#112 ·
No, I'm only selling the switch. I might sell the harness too but I'm not sure Theres a market for it.

A bezel is a plastic piece of trim that makes it look pretty. Look for them on ebay

#114 ·
Yeah you are going to need a new piece because you are putting a fog light in. Its silver. See picture, and no problem

O ok I was thinking that I could re use the one on my car already. I guess not.

I'm just concern that the eBay won't or will come with the wrong switch or other parts. The joy of eBay lol

If it were me, I would find out the oem part numbers and look for those. I always find out the exact part number for myself, so I can just go to the dealer to order it
