I'm looking for a cheap third key for my 1015 mazda 3 with with advanced keyless entry. I can get a metal key to open the door, but I would like something to work the ignition. I think the ignition works on an RFID chip in the fob, so the question is, can I reprogram a random RFID chip (maybe the one in my drivers license, or one from a retail tag) to work the ignition? IOr maybe a better question is, what trades use RFIDs and where could I find a guy who knew enough about it to reprogram an RFID?

Buy an uncut key fob from ebay, they are pretty cheap since they work for the whole Mazda lineup. Go to a "guy", or go to Mazda to program for your car ...

I don't think is that simple with any RFID, for sure not retail tags, I know it has a reader around the start button, in the manual it guides you how to start the car with a depleted key fob battery by pressing the start button with the key fob itself so it reads the RFID ... in theory a generic reprogrammed automotive RFID might work ...
