Hi all

I am considering putting 15 or 16 inch Steel (or may be alloy, something like Dots Dakar) on my 3 Sport. I am thinking 215s instead of stock 205s on a 7inch rim. Going for a wider to improve the grip and lower diameter of rim to soften the ride a bit due to extremely bad roads in the area where I just moved to. This I think will also give her a meaner look. What do you guys think?
Pros: Softer, quieter ride, less road bumps, better traction on launch, better breaking, better looking as wider wheels will match the body (Same width as putting RX8 alloys on a 3 but with a much thicker tyre)

Cons: Higher fuel consumption, may be increased insurance cost?

Any thoughts welcome so don't hold back.

You left out 1 of the primary scientific reasons for changing the wheel/tire set up....Reducing unsprung rotational mass. While you're planning such, do include the search for the lightest wheels you can afford. Your ride, FC, braking, handling & performance will all see improvement.
