I'm my AWD Premium Hatch with 95% city driving, (mix of stop and go traffic with lots of hills) after three weeks I'm at 25.3mpg avg. It climbs .1mpg each day or so IF I avoid heavy stop and go traffic.

I'm not sure if Mazda is like Honda, but if it is my CR-V mileage improved over time. It was the absolute worse when it was brand new.

Over my first 3000 miles I'm averaging 33 mpg US, which is just under 7L/100kms. 90% highway driving, and I work hard at not accelerating too hard, but I typically exceed the speed limit by 23%, so very happy with the fuel economy so far.

Experience from the previous gen since they currently have the same engine: the skyactiv-g is very sensitive to what speed you drive. At 120km/h, I generally get 7-7.5 L/100 km. Maybe a bit less. At 100km/h my fuel consumption drops to around 6L/100km (give or take).

For those with AWD (or FWD premium), has the cylinder deactivation when cruising been smooth/not noisy? Does it save more than the 1 mpg on highway and city? Thanks

Doing 120km it does cylinder deactivation a fair bit... you can't tell when it switch on unless your looking for it... when cylinder deactivation turns on it drops fuel use around 1.5L/100km.... Getting you into the Low 6L/100km... so looks like my 2019 AWD hatch gets better gas millage then my 2.5 2015 mazda3 on the HWY but in the city its not as good.. im getting around 6.5L/100hwy and 8-9L/100km city.. but works out to the same as my old 2015 mazda 3 and that is with AWD.

Cylinder deactivation has been pretty seamless in my FWD. It's not noisy at all. How would I find out how much it is saving me in fuel?
