Hi all, new member here with an issue that hopefully someone can assist with. We have a late 2016 BN SP25 GT hatch (Australia) which had a glitchy MZD system. Sometimes the DAB radio wouldn't work, sometimes the clock showed 00:00 no matter what time of day. These were random problems that would come and go periodically. At the recent service at the dealer last week I asked for the system to be updated to the latest version to hopefully get rid of these problems. Since the upgrade I cannot play the MP3 music stored on my USB stick that was in the car. The music is still on the stick, but on the screen the 'USB1' and 'USB2' are greyed out and cannot be selected. Before the upgrade it worked perfectly with album art etc.....
Can some one please tell me if there has been a change to the MP3 standard between 2016 and the latest software/firmware version from 2018? Is there an issue with the upgrade that has taken place, or is it that the MP3 files need to be in a different format than they used to be? I can charge a phone from the USB ports, but the 'USB1' and 'USB2' are still greyed out.
Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers

I don't believe there's been any change to the mp3 standard. Have you tried copying your music over to another name brand USB stick < 16GB ? It seems that even if the files themselves weren't recognized, the car should still realize it has a USB stick plugged into it. There has been mention that USB sticks larger than 16 GB have been causing problems (although I'm not sure if it's V70 firmware specific or related to the new hub installed with the CarPlay/Android Auto upgrade).

On another note, have the other glitches disappeared?

Thanks all. The USB still plays on other devices (PC, home hi-fi) so there isn't a problem withe the drive. It's only a 4GB drive. Regarding the glitches, the clock seems to be OK but the screen re-booted itself while I was driving yesterday, so not all is well just yet. The dealer hasn't had this issue before, they are saying it could be a fault with the in-dash unit, although since I can still charge a phone from the USB drive I think it is a mystery until they do some tests on it. It's going in to get a control arm replaced (faulty bush) and the USB issue will be looked at while it is there.

OS version 59.00.545 4A N
Music database version 00.08.000
Fail safe version 59.00.545

Well......they didn't update to the newest version. The newest version is 70.xxx and Music is 09.

No tests needed. They need to replace the headunit, takes all of 7 mins and replace with a new one. Instantly will see if that's the problem.

Same for the AUX unit. Depending if yours is in the centre console of below the AC dial. A few minutes to remove and replace with new unit and test.

It could be a loose / broken wire, either behind the headunit or the AUX thing.

Take it back to them and get them to fix it.

Had this looked at again. It looks as though older USB's will no longer work. Music was copied onto a newer drive and it works fine. Although not specifically mentioned, somewhere along the line there has been a change to a USB drive standard requirement. Maybe people don't keep USB drives a long as I do.......

Update: worked well for about 2 weeks, now Gracenote is playing up. The album/artist information and album art shows on the screen for about a minute after start-up, then the album art disappears and the display changes to 'unknown artist' and 'unknown album' - only the track name remains. Also, random shuffle is hardly random, plays many songs from the same few artists. At least the music is still playing (for now!!!!). I'll update Gracenote to version 9 from the Mazda website, will this work OK with OS version 59.00.545 4A N?
