I went to the dealership for the third time today. They refused to do the TSB before because they told me the Ticking noise coming from the passenger side was normal. The Mazda district manager told me today that they will perform the TSB for me, but he doesn't think it will do anything. He thinks the issue is metal under the car hitting and that they can't do anything about it. The noise didn't happen with the manager in the car with me which sucked.

I'm just happy they agreed to do the TSB for me tomorrow. If that doesn't fix the issue, I'm going to be very upset.

Just had the TSB performed and I didn't hear the constant ticking noises on my drive home. There's still an occasional tick from the center of the dash, but the constant Ticking from the passenger side seems to be gone. It only took me 4 trips to the dealer to have the TSB performed. Good luck to those of you that have issues with the dealer. I had to talk to a Mazda district manager and he agreed to do it for me when I showed him a copy of the TSB and he saw that it only takes .3 hours to complete.

Thanks much for posting the TSB here.

Is this ticking noise constant...like a lot of ticks together? Mine just started to make a tick noise at both slow and highway speeds when hitting a rough or eneven spot in the pavement. It just ticks once though, not multiple times and doesn't do it all the time either. Very sporadic. The ticking noise is coming from the front passenger area.

The ticking noise started at about 2000 km on my Mazda three. Very annoying. The nearest Mazda dealer is 300 km away and I have a appointment tomorrow to get it fixed. I am hoping it will go well and am a bit concerned about some damage in the dash area
Bring the tsb printout with you and don't let them tell you its something else. Ask to drive with the technician if u have to... That's what worked for me in the end.

Good luck.

Well. I drive a GT Tech sedan and it had the Rick from day one and got worse as time progressed Had my TSB done by the dealer 2 weeks and now it's worse than ever. The car was there over a week - see my previous posts) Tons of video and confirmed by service manager and general manager. Car now has 2000 kms and I am pissed. So the dealer is contacting Mazda on Monday to see what they recommend for a fix. If nothing is available for a fix I'm going to let them try one more time and then file for arbitration via the camvap program in Canada and not to mention some TV consumer shows are gonna get a call. Complete and utter BS. I've been researching and there were notations in online test reviews of some preproduction cars where the authors complained of a dash tick...I'm betting they knew about this while the first cars were being delivered and a TSB program was cheaper than a reengineer or recall program. Man.

Posted this in another thread as well but:
Got Mazda of Brampton to perform the updated TSB in this thread. While taking it to the dealership for that, for once, I wasn't playing the radio or songs off of my USB and was listening to the sounds that car was making. I started to hear a rather annoying but subtle creaking sound coming from the hinge area or around there of the front passenger door. Seems to be something related to do the B-Pillar. The Mazda tech wasn't able to determine it within the 90 minutes he had with my car this morning, and he talked to his foreman. So, I'll be bringing it in on Thursday so they have more time to play with the car.

For anyone who wishes to apply the TSB on their own, here is some documentation that will help you.

First, you will want to remove the windshield wiper arm and blade (you only need pages 1,2 and 3 on the actual PDF): View attachment WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL_INSTALLATION.pdf

Second, you will want to disconnect join pipe A of the windshield wiper hose (you only need to refer to the image in the top left corner on page 2): View attachment WINDSHIELD WASHER HOSE REMOVAL_INSTALLATION.pdf

Third, you will want to remove the cowl grille: View attachment COWL GRILLE REMOVAL_INSTALLATION.pdf

Fourth, you will want to apply the actual steps in the TSB: View attachment 09-001-14-2872a.pdf
If you are having difficulty locating where to actually apply the steps in the TSB after removing the cowl grille, you can refer to this image that alej0 shared:

alej0 originally shared that image here: http://mazda3revolution.com/forums/...14-mazda-3-skyactiv-discussion/31290-rattles-vibration-noises-8.html#post639017

Last, you will put everything back in reverse order.

I've had my car worked on 3 times trying to resolve this ticking issue. First time was back in November or December I think, they took apart the dash and lined it with foam paddings. I can see it when I look under from the glove compartment area. Car was tick free but came back the next week. Second time was when they performed the TSB, sound came back after a few days. Took it in again the third time and I think they re did the TSB and also checked under the dash. Sound has been gone for the most part. It comes and goes, just not as often as before. I can go days and maybe weeks without a tick then once in a while I'll get the ticking sound again and goes away after a day or so. It's not as annoying now as it's not as loud as before but it still comes and goes =/

Just had the ticking noise TSB performed this morning. It was a No-Go. Passenger side still ticking like a mo-fo. Good grief. Mazda needs to issue a TSB that will actually fix this. Have another appointment next Friday to have it looked at again. They did update me to V31 for the infotainment system though, with no issues.

Amplified, I showed the TSB to my local dealer's service dept., and they claimed they've never seen it before. I didn't really have confidence in their doing this, so I told them I'd bring it back if things got worse. I think the TSB is not really a solution, as too many have complained that the noise returns afterwards. I believe there may be a new TSB to replace this one, as someone reported recently.

My dealer in Orlando FL also had not seen this TSB - but we discussed the possibility that Mazda has recognized the fault by issuing a TSB, in his opinion they were working on a permanent solution that would be forthcoming. He felt the TSB procedure appeared to be a quick fix and rather primitive, the final solution will probably involve extra parts, spacers, etc. I decided to wait for now even though the noise is driving me crazy.

Every time I think I have the ticking noise fixed, it returns.

For me, my noise comes from the driver's side A-pillar, not the passenger side.

I had the TSB applied by a local dealership about a month ago or so, the noise was gone for about a day, and then returned.
I then went to a friend's place and we worked on re-applying the TSB together. After doing that, the noise was gone for about a week or so but came back.
A week after that, I did the TSB again myself, and really expanded/created a gap (or so I thought). A week and a half later, the noise returned.

I had the TSB performed about 3 weeks ago and the noise hasn't returned yet. If the dealer isn't fighting with you over doing it, why not just get it done? It doesn't take long and they aren't doing much. The TSB says that they changed the weld points in the latest manufactured versions to resolve the issue. I wouldn't hold my breath for another TSB.

I posted this in the general discussion area, but I'll repeat it here. Try pressing on the bottom of the driver side "side wall" and see if your ticking stops. I think the TSB is totally off the mark, and the problem is with clips and hooks in the side wall and/or front console area. I'm able to stop the ticking by applying pressure in those areas, even though the sound seems further away. Report back if you have a similar result.

I have a 2014 Mazda3 with 127 miles on it. It was built in April 2014 and the Vin is higher the that covered by the TSB however I have a near constant metallic clicking noise coming from the passenger side. It sounds to me like it's coming from under the seat. The sound is nearly constant, goes away momentarily over bumps and sounds like static/Morris code ticking.

Not sure if it's related to the A-pillar or front passenger seat but it's really loud and annoying.

Any chance this TSB will be expanded? Did anyone think the noise was coming from under the front passenger seat? Anyone have this problem with cars built after 3/14?

FWIW....mine is NO WHERE close to the sound in the Youtube video....it sounds similar but not as loud and "finer" sounding. Still sounds like it's coming from under the passenger seat....hmmm.
