Nice to hear that. Were you there when they were fixing your car?

You have a good dealer comparing to me.

I took mine back this Tuesday, but I don't think the dealer actually did anything to my car. They didn't even give me any paper work to sign (normally they would let me sign something, like invoice, before I can get my car). I noticed no difference on my way back from the dealer. The noise now constantly exists when I drive at 40 miles or higher.

Should I go to a different dealer? The noise now is almost as bad as before the first fix. Or do you think calling mazda USA can be helpful?

Give it some time, see if it comes back or not. I have a feeling it might come back lol My noise went away after the last fix and after a little over a month it came back. This noise seems to have a mind of its own. On my 220+ mile road trip last month, I had no noise for the first hour into the trip then it started ticking again and ticked some more on the drive back. Since then the noise comes and goes.

First time dealer fixed it the noise came back the next day, second fix it came back after a week, then the last one came back after a month or so lol

Has anybody from Canada had this done at the dealership? My dealership said that even though my VIN qualifies, this is a TSB for Mazda USA and does not apply to Mazda Canada. They said they'd have a look at it, but I didn't want my car to be the first guinea pig at their dealership. I'll just do it myself. Just a bit disappointed by the response I got.

You have to disable JavaScript or use adblockplus to see the page... The main thread with tabs has the info on that.

Here's the tsb name TSB: 09-14-03

EDIT: I just dropped my car off and my dealer had never heard of this TSB... asked me where I got it ;) I'll let you know how it goes... it's Kanata Mazda, btw.

Well, despite me pointing to this TSB, my dealer tells me that it needs new rotors to remove the ticking... none are in stock so I'll have to bring the car back in.... I'm not an expert, but I'm skeptical that this will in fact fix my problem. I'll keep you posted.

Well, the dealer agreed that the rotors is not the source of the problem and applied the fix for the TSB, but the ticking remains... They believe the windsheild is the problem so I have to go back in tomorrow for them to re-seal the windsheild ... hopefully this is it, but again, not likely.

Howdy. First post here and unfortunately it's a negative one. I just bought a 2014 GT / Tech (Canadian) from a dealer in the Toronto area. It has 800 kms and the dash tick / pop was present from day 1. It's been dealer confirmed and even they said it was highly abnormal. It's been at the dealer for 6 days now and they have tried the TSB with negative results. They have pretty much taken the damn car apart and are now waiting for Mazda engineering to suggest the next course of action. The techs believe it is frame / body creak and not sure how to fix it. If it's in the shop for another week and no sign of remedy I'm taking Mazda to task and going to request a new vehicle. No one should pay this kind of money for a small car and have to listen to that crap non stop. My dealer has been great and contacted Mazda head office and informed them of the situation. I've been given a loaner since day 2 and they are trying hard however ultimately it's a new car and this shouldn't be happening. I mean my 2000 mustang cobra doesn't make a sound inside...and it's ale most 15 years old.

I'll keep you updated as things progress but I'm guessing Mazda new about this issue during production (or shortly thereafter - even the auto reviews mentioned an annoying dash tick in some early production models) and instead of having to issue an immediate recall they are saving money and reputation by throwing out a TSB. We will see.

Sorry to hear, sounds like its something other then what the TSB was supposed to fix :( My car makes the ticking noise too, gonna have it fixed when I bring it in for the recall on the i-eloop. Hopefully they can fix it. I know in the US if your car is in the shop for 30 days out of the first year you can usually claim the lemon law.

I too recently began experiencing the ticking noises about a little over a week ago. My noise is primarily coming from the driver's side and not the passenger's side. I went about 2500 miles before hearing the ticking sound. Mazda3 s Touring 5-Door manufactured in December 2013.

I took it to the service department last Wednesday where I had them perform the TSB. They had previously helped me get a replacement TAU for the TAU TSB a week prior to that. Only about a day and a half of driving after having the TSB performed for the ticking noise, the sound returned.

As Babie has stated in some posts, in regards to this issue, I'm guessing the gap has to be opened up a bit greater/more aggressively and spraying some rubberized undercoating (sound deadening) should help re mediate the issue.

Let me throw this out there as a possible cause of the ticking. I'm just speculating here, and have no evidence to back this up yet, but it may the the "dash locator pins" that are causing the rattle. This problem occurred on the first gen Mazda6 models, where the dash would tick going over bumps and rough roads. The solution was to dismantle the dash and surround those pins with insulation. I wouldn't let the dealer take apart the dash, so I wedged flexible plastic tubing between the dash and windshield. This stopped the rattle, but it didn't look very good at all. I hope this is not what's causing the issue on the 3, but the TSB is not solving the problem by most reports.

Yes, they didn't re-seat the windsheild after all.... thankfully.

The service advisor told me that they did something in the A pillar... he was vague and mentioned 2 weldpoints... I suspect that they finally applied the TSB properly despite having told me they did it last time I brought it in.

Long story, short: The ticking is gone.

At least the dealer got it done, and I'm happy. I did warn them that they'll see many more 3s coming in with this issue. The advisor said that they are really only seeing a few 3s coming back for service, but just regular... so it's early for them.

My Mazda3 2014 is less than two weeks old and I started noticing the ticking noise yesterday. My VIN is higher than that in the TSG, however. Any suggestions? I fear the dealer may end up replacing a thousand parts unnecessarily. (They seemed to have never heard of this issue when I called)
