Good to hear! But just to clarify, this change could only possibly affect boot loops caused by changes to the Javascript files that make up the user interface. Lower level hacks like the ones being worked on by b0lt could cause boot loops for other reasons, and this won't help to stop those.

Yea.
That's right. This action is only valid in(under) jci/gui .:smile2:

So using some of the images from my infotainment files, I created this template so that I could test different backgrounds and see what they would look like in the main menu.

Here is the final background I went with... for now:

Here is the original for comparison... never noticed how re-sampled the oem background looks until I changed it...

Here is the Template WITH TRANSPARENCY, the main menu as one piece, if you know how to use photoshop or gimp this should be perfect for you:

Image

I also have a .xcf and .psd file with all the parts of the template separated if you want to change them or whatever.... It only let me attach a .psd though...

If you have Photoshop or Gimp, you should be able to use the attachment or the transparency image as a template to test what a background will look like before you put it in your car.

The .psd file ALSO contains the original "background.png" and "HomeBg.png" which both are involved in what background you see on the screen. (if you don't change HomeBg.png you will see the original background at Startup but it will then change to your modified background)

I'd make a how to about this but I'm way too tired.... maybe tomorrow...

WinSCP made this so much easier.... :001_smile: :rockon 1:

PS.

I don't know if the Font is correct on the Word communication or the Time 12:34 - Does anyone know the System Font? I just made those look as close to the system as possible.... :wink 1: :rock 1:

The only "HomeBg.png" I can find is under jci/gui/apps/system/controls/mainmenu/images/HomeBg.png. Is this the file you're referring to? I replaced it, but my car still briefly shows that crappy cloudy picture before going to my real background.

Yea, I think I may have been wrong about that. I believe that the "Start Up" image is actually an Animated PNG file - or if not that some kind of video file.

That background is PART of the actually animation that you see, I don't believe there are any "transparent" objects behind which you could have a custom background. The Menu Items and the background are part of ONE file there....

I do think it's probably possible to change that file, I'm pretty sure I found it at one point but I forget where...

I believe it may have been mentioned in other posts regarding "video" files in the car.

So if you want to change it, it might be possible, but you would have to either create a NEW animation or something else if you want it to include the menu items. (this might be easy since we have the transparent ones)

If it has to be a specific file type, you could just make a still image.... or still video and replace the other file to get what you want....

With Android Auto, the Infotainment System will display a special home screen from your phone where you will be able to access certain apps such as Google Maps. It will all be controllable from the Infotainment System. Carplay is the same thing with apple. I assume you'll have to plug the phone (or tablet) in by usb because I remember the bluetooth in the system being an old standard so I doubt it will be able to handle the GUI feed etc.
Ahm well, looks like I know that "Android Auto/Carlink" concept by another name actually. Things must have advanced a lot with this. It was more like a PoC stuff then and not sure it was meant to be included at all. Great to hear they made it.

i was able to make a 1:1 image of the system without any modifying of the files via usb... thats the 1st step required to be able to port it or add anything... next step is to try to recreate this and verify crc with same vin then another vin should also match. If they do not match could mean a few things.

There is a defect in CMU g-streamer.
(Gstreamer not working second time)

Please refer to the following thread.
https://community.freescale.com/message/389350#389350

So , You have to replace this file .
(CMU-root/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libmfw_gst_v4lsink.so)

Special thanks wada-3

Cheers !!

Hi guys.
I have a EU firmware. The applications must determine region of Japan.
How can I do it.
How can I change region.
Hi.
What applications do you??

I'm doing things like you similar because of want to change VR language . (Japanese CMU can chose only own VR language :crying2:)

However , Region of CMU not be changed for now . However, on the GUI can be changed . Please refer to the questions further if you want it .:laugh2:

I managed to simulate the presence of the DVD and TV in EU version.
Ôîðóì íîâîé Mazda3 â Ðîññèè

But in menu is displayed only CD.

I can force it to start TV (without the presence of "TV" in the menu).

I think the application checks the region and if the region does not match JP - DVD and TV points do not appear in the menu.

I think you can compare the files with the EU version and add or correct information about the language. Then it will be added EN language

Do you can give me your folder JCI for comparison?

I have EU and NA CMU files . There are no differences on the script side at all. The region code is embedded on the ecu side. so, you can't change the Region of CMU .

But you can change the Region of GUI . See the file of Localization.js .

It would be cool if someone can make an app for the car so we can select the videos from the menu :)

Also anyone know how we can change the word MAZDA on the HUD when the car starts up?
There have been several people who have created custom apps for the infotainment system, but oddly they never released them and quit posting shortly after showing them. One of which was a custom menu for selecting videos off of the usb.

Thats true, Apps are the key, i Hope someone will find a Way to install them, i would Love to See two Apps, a obd app (ecu Reader, Read/delete ecu faults, obd gauges) just like torque app and a videoplayer app ... Another way would be a raspberry pi, with a canbus module IT should be possible to Do Things on the pi, thanks to Withe we know the pin out for video in and yeah everything Else has to be tested.

I know wish they would post their code somewhere where someone else can work on it... Maybe mazda bought them out...
