ONLY USE IT AS A REFERENCE. ALL QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS REGARDING THE INFOTAINMENT PROJECT SHOULD BE POSTED HERE.

----------------------------------------

So, the Infotainment system is great, but it has me thinking how much greater it could be. There's so much potential wasted right now, and I would like to untap some of that.

The original post: http://mazda3revolution.com/forums/...-mazda-3-skyactiv-discussion/39650-infotainment-system-software-components.html.
This got me thinking. This is obviously a linux-based OS running on an ARM chip. This was seen on this post as well: http://mazda3revolution.com/forums/...3-skyactiv-audio-electronics/54722-accessing-infotainment-diagnostics-menu.html

I'm a software engineer, but don't have any experience dealing with low-level linux based systems. I would love to be able to either install custom, modified linux operating systems in the car or just be able to alter parts of the system to enable hidden or disabled parts of the system.

For instance, every european market has the ability to buy connected services (live traffic, weather, etc), and the Japanese market even can play DVD's and watch live TV!

This may at least give us the ability to upgrade our own systems without visiting the dealer, or use other applications through our phones such as Waze.

What I think may help here is getting the update code dump. This would be solved easiest if someone knows a dealer that can get the update software on a USB stick. If someone could upload that somewhere, we could then start analyzing the update procedure and the software and hopefully fine some way to hijack onto that process.

@Siutsch - So I appear to have the exact same problem as you did. So let me understand what you did to get everything working. You deleted the waisky2 version of the player. Then you tested the skalsiu88 version. Then you re-installed the waisky2 version. Then you found out it was the USB drive after all. So here are my questions. How did you "Uninstall" the waisky2 version ? Did the Skalsiu88 version work after you uninstalled the waisky2 version ? How did you reinstall the waisky2 version (USB Script or SSH) ? I have 2.. 32 GB micro drives but I've also been playing with a 1 GB drive. What model USB drive are you using ? Like I said...I have the exact same problems you did...but you fixed it. So whatever you did...I will do. Let me know...Thanks.

I deleted the waisky2 version (each file individually with WinSCP), before I knew, that the 64 GB drive was the reason, that I could not play videos.

After installing the skalsiu88 version I could also not play videos with this player.

After I realized that the large USB drive was the reason, the skalsiu88 version worked immediately with all of my videos with using an old 8 GB drive.
After that I reinstalled the waisky2 version (USB Script, like I did before), also that player worked immediately with using that USB drive.

Actually I use my 64 GB Transcend USB drive for music and a 8 GB SanDisk Cruzer Blade USB 2.0 drive for videos.

I have been tinkering with @waisky2 player ... it works great, but is very finicky. It will play videos, but doesn't always like it when I have the NAV SD and a second USB plugged in. I don't know what steps to make it work with everything. I should be able to just leave the USB with videos in there and resume playing or play a new file the next time I start the car, but unfortunately it doesn't do that :(

Also, I've always had problems tethering to wifi from my Android phone ... maybe I'm destined not to have video

Make sure your car is connected to your phone through WiFi.

Leave the default name and password they are already set. You need the correct IP number and change it on the screen displayed. Mine was 192.168.43.3. You can try the app called Fing or you should be able to see the number in your hotspot setup.

Also don't forget your movies need to be in a folder called Movies.

Mazda Media Player do not work on EU 56.00.210 :(

On phone i find movies but when i select movie and click on PLAY nothing happen. Status is: Stopped.

I tried several times (to close app on phone, restart MZD...).

Probably work only on 33.

@trookam that looks pretty neat... very nice mazda-like design :)

what did you mean with radio-fix?? did i read on something??
i try this tomorrow... but love your visual enhancement

@free1977 just put a mp3 to the stick and change source in audio menu to usb, then pause the music and start the video :) as long as you got the picture everything else is easy :)

@sylver thats a typical wrong codec problem, try one of the "test" videos from waisky or someone else, also make sure you don't use an usb 3.0 stick and of course not bigger then 8gb (less = better)

@volcano2K if you stuck at the logo, the frontend does not load correctly... but everything behind is working?? pdc? radio?

then hopefully you don't delete the wifi hotspot with the removing of the battery...so you can easy overwrite the "opera.ini" and (thanks Xypro) the sm.conf

you used the waisky script for installation of the apps?? the apps from waisky ONLY works with v51+
he made a backup script, a few pages back if you don't have wifi access http://mazda3revolution.com/forums/2014-mazda-3-skyactiv-audio-electronics/57714-infotainment-project-301.html#post1468513

if you do something else ahead... tell us :)

@Siutsch - Thanks. This worked for me. I was afraid that I had messed things up too much, so I re-installed NA 55 on my system and got it back to factory. Then applied the tweaks. Then ran @waisky2 script. Got rid of my 32 GB Micro Drives (USB 3.0)...bought some PNY 8 GB Micro Drives (USB 2.0)...and everything works. Underscores in the naming convention of the movie names works fine. So everything appears to be right in the world now... :) Thanks again to @waisky2 for your hard work...and Thanks @Siutsch for getting me right.

happy sunday:smile2: I have a quick question,I have to take my car into mazda for the recall, so I figure I'd better remove Waisky2 speedometer and video mods. I haven't seen an auto usb script to uninstall them, so if I just reinstall the NA_55.00.753A firmware, will it remove them and is that a safe way to do it, thx

i wonder if it isn't possible to get the exact speed... because the speedwarning of the navi works with the speed too.

i found serveral references in the vehsettingsapp.js with "atSpeed" and cachedSpeed etc
// VehicleSettingsTab Context
vehsettingsApp.prototype._VehicleSettingsTabCtxtTmpltReadyToDisplay = function(params)
{
log.debug("_VehicleSettingsTabCtxtTmpltReadyToDisplay called...");
this.cachedSpeed = framework.common.getAtSpeedValue();
so i'm not a coder and maybe you allready noticed this :) but in my childlike mindset... maybe we can use this in one way or another :)

@ trookam i installed your enhancements of the waisky script, worked pretty fine and looks soo damn good :)
but still not know what you mean with radio fix :)
