Hi All,

New here, but interested in helping out. Are there any ongoing projects or initiatives that I can contribute to? I just purchased a 2015 Mazda3 and work full time as a developer. I've started programming an OpenCar application, and after my USB to Ethernet adapter arrives in the mail, I intend to really start playing around.

Best,
Danny B
Welcome...

As far as I know, anything going you'll find in the most recent pages of this thread.

If you haven't been to the wiki already you can find a lot of information at:

http://www.mazda3hacks.com/doku.php

start [Mazda3Hacks]

There is also a google drive with documents you can find here:

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4s0TamsAZLsRXdEM3phLVdoUlU&usp=sharing

The wiki has info on how to Virtually run the OS - with and without the car connected via a router....

As for any projects though... I would just keep an eye on this thread, and maybe PM those who have mentioned they are working on stuff, if you want to get involved....

A lot of what people have done has been posted on this thread... just gotta dig a little : )

Hello, i'm an Mazda3 owner since last Christmas en would like to update the infotainment from v27 to v33 EU. Ofcourse i could go visit the dealer but its also nice to do it yourself.
Is the v33 EU software downloadable somewhere?

Not happy right now.... Followed the instructions but when its came to the re-instal software it says it couldnt find the right software package on the usb stick. Failsafe installation was succesfull.
I will download the software again and then try again.
Any possibility to go back to initial v27 version?

If you haven't already, do a full format to fat32 for your USB stick. Don't do a quick format, but do a full format. Then try copying the update to the drive and try the update again.

The Infotainment system is extremely picky about the USB drive. I have to do a full format of mine between every update, even though I only use the drive for the infotainment system.

Hello.

I have EU Top model of Mazda 3 with latest SW 33 and i have question about voice instruction in navigation.

Is there any way, that voice instructions come to all speaker and not only on left speaker?

Sometimes i don't hear voice because of the road (highway). Yes, i know, that i can turn on volume for voice navigation but then, when i come to town, she is too loud and i must turn down volume...its annoying to do this all the time...

I would like to hear navigation voice like when i press on talk-button on the steering wheel and she sad: "Say a command" - this would be great!

Is there a possibility to do that?:smile2:

:smile2: Happy again:smile2:
I first tried to wipe the usb stick and format again but that didnt help. So i just bought a new one and now it did work. I'm on v33...
checking for differences...
Hopefully the artwork for music from radio and cd are vissible now.
Someone got a list with what specific things are different in the latest update?

Google Maps on Mazda 3 - progress status update

Here is an update about work in progress project "Google Maps navigation for Mazda 3". I finally was able to make Proof of Concept working (and stable). The test application impersonates as a standard "Compass" application for Infotainment System, and receives GPS coordinates to center the map. The Google Map shows test directions, as well as current traffic, user can scroll the map by touching the screen (though this is VERY slow), user can switch to StreetView mode. Please see attached photos.

So far lesson learned is:

1. Standard Google Map controls are very small, need to increase size of them several times, and make them transparent (or hideable). I was not able to hit Close button at top-right corner to exit from the StreeView mode.

2. The brightness of map is too high for comfort driving. Probably introducing "night mode" similar to Android version will be a solution.

3. Scrolling/zooming of map is very slow, not sure why - maybe because JavaScript version of Google Maps is quite a CPU hog.
