Yes, you have to setup WiFi connection with car, so the best way i just setup adhoc network on Android device.

Yes you can turn screen off or use your mobile phone as usually do it - tomorrow I'll try to prepare new video with my app and show such details :)
Who is actually decoding the video stream? The phone or the Head unit?
Is it possible this way actually to show any Android application on the Head unit like screen mirroring?

I just updated to 55.00.753 today on my Mazda3 and now the Radio Seek button on the steering wheel ( aka previous and next station) now changes the radio SOURCE ?? After I seek through the FM stations it changes the source to AM or XM !!
What a pain. I'm calling the dealer tomorrow to see if they have any idea's. Has anyone else noticed this issue ?

All he is doing is connecting the cmu to the phone's wifi, then he is sending commands via SSH to the cmu. There is no streaming or mirroring. The files need to be locally present on usb drive.

It would be possible to have the files on the phone and they would have to be copied via ssh to the cmu before playback or buffered.

That's how it works.

It was mentioned several months ago as v55.00.650 which came out in late May or early June has the same behaviour.

I like it myself, I can now go through all my favourites without having to switch from one band to another first. It makes it much quicker and if you want to go back to the previous radio band you just cycle through them going backwards, much easier than having to change from FM to AM or XM first and then cycle through the favourites for that one to get to the favourite you want. I can understand if you have a large number of favourites in each band it might not work as well for you as you might have to press the forward or backward button a lot of times to get to the station you want but I only have 4 FM, 1 AM and 5 XM favourites so it works well for me as is. I for one would not want it to go back to the way it was before.

1. rename the /jci/opera/opera_dir/userjs/fps.js => fps.js.bak

2. it is using gst-launch playbin2, you can find the command in /jci/gui/mySpeedometer/playback-action.sh

to check if the your mp4 file is playable by the command, try this at the command prompt;

let say your mp4 is here /tmp/mnt/sdb1/abc.mp4

# /usr/bin/gst-launch --gst-fatal-warnings playbin2 uri=file:///tmp/mnt/sdb1/abc.mp4 video-sink="mfw_v4lsink disp-height=416" audio-sink="alsasink" buffer-size="0" buffer-duration="0"

if the video don't play, very likely it can't be decode and encode with the playbin2 plugin. you may then need to try other option then playbin2, if you are familiar with gst-launch.

if the video play and show on the screen, it should play when you tap it on the video list. but please be patient, it would take up to 2 sec only start playing after you tap. if not playing still persist, reboot and try again.
Hi guys, I am on a different car platform but have been playing with things as they progress. I have a 2016 Mazda MX-5 (Miata) which uses the same Mazda Connect system. The things you guys are coming up with are very cool, thanks. I am running version 55 software in the US.

I am able to play the video file from the command line but have a different problem, I can't select the video player to come up so I can select play videos from the list. The speedometer works and the reboot works but not the video player, the icon is there.

I have tried changing CHMODS on all of the new files and I think that is what got the reboot working but I just can't get the video player to work, any ideas would be helpful.

just to make sure understand you correctly, in Applications;

1. tap on the speedometer image, the screen switch to speedometer page
2. tap on the power cycle image, a dialog box pop up
3. tap on the middle play image, nothing happen?

if 3 is what it happens to you, pretty weird. after reboot still the same?

That is exactly what is happening. I looked all through the code as much as I understand and have deleted and recopied the files from the zip over and over. I have not changed any code.

Earlier today, I removed everything and reinstalled to get to where it is now. At first, it would only show the speedometer.

I am able to run a video file from the USB through the older bootable .sh setup. This video program seems to be the only program that doesn't want to be selected.

I have run most of the tests as you have posted and have set up the NC to work correctly but for some reason I can't get the video player to come up. I always reboot after changes. Everything seems to be the same as far as the software setup but something must be slightly off.

I have found libjcivdm.so library with interesting methods that may allow to obtain OBD data. It remains to learn how to use them ...

Cool! :surprise:

Is it perhaps possible to show the status of the DPF regeneration (for a diesel engine) like the frame counter at a corner?
Perhaps we can take the code thereof and change the displayed variable to the one we need?
And if this is then displayed only when the regeneration is active (if the value is 1 or so), that would be great.

In the German Forum is currently tinkering with a hardware solution for this ...
(Don't know if this helps: CAN-Bus Mode 0x22 with PID 0x380: >0 Reg is active)

A free software solution as an indicator on the display would be really great.

I can't think of what could cause the problem you are having.

since you have no problem with the speedometer (the image on the left), and also the reboot feature (the image on the right), but only the video player (the image in the middle) not working.

how about try to swap these 2 line in mySpeedometer.html, and then reboot;

<img src="mySpeedometer/speedometerBtn.png" id="speedometerBtnDiv">
<img src="mySpeedometer/myVideoBtn.png" id="myVideoBtnDiv">

to become

<img src="mySpeedometer/myVideoBtn.png" id="myVideoBtnDiv">
<img src="mySpeedometer/speedometerBtn.png" id="speedometerBtnDiv">

this would make the video player image align to the left and the speedometer sit in the middle. then try tap and see if it works. this may sound stupid but who knows if something wrong with your touch screen? :p

@waisky2
i got your script with the player working

two points i done

chmod the busyboxarmv7l and the nc

then the video played without sound...
i remember we have to use the "check" folder for the usb tweak... so that you are able to choose the usb in the audio menü

i copied the folder.. change input to usb, press pause (otherwise the audio of my videos starts playing)
and now i see and hear the movies

great

also i have to say BIG THANKS to the community, very helpful

good one. I didn't notice this.

may be I have been working with my USB having the "check" folder in so the auto play didn't start for me.

I never installed the original video scripts pre-waisky. What is the "check" folder on the USB? Do I literally make a folder named "check", and put all the video files in it?
If I have understood correctly, then it is only necessary to ensure that the system can detect the USB drive as an audio source (if only video files are included).
It must contain at least one MP3 (audio) file on the USB drive.

If you use the USB drive for MP3s and additionally copied video files, then this is not necessary (as I do).

One may correct me if I'm wrong.

look at the index post..
there is a usb-tweak for videoplayback

there is a folder named "check" with a mp3 file in it... just that you can change the audio source to usb in the audio-menü

you could also simply add a normal mp3 file to the usb-stick...

I did swap the lines of code and the positions of the icons changed but it would not bring up the video player. I went back through the settings and found the one line in sm.conf reset_board for opera was still set to "yes" so I changed it to "no" but it still would not work. I copied all the files again to make sure they were original. I also relinked nc in the usr/bin to the /bin/busybox-armv7l (no red symbol) and checked all the chmods again. After resetting each time, nothing changed.

I also tried the test sequence where you had someone key several lines and the responses seemed normal like the killall nc. In the line to start the video player, the command window cleared accept for the command line like it was running something and the cursor disappeared but the car display did not change. It's strange, it just won't start the video player.

It's no big deal, but trying all of this sure helps to learn more about the car software, thank you for your help and the new programs. Keep up the great work!

I ran a strings command

Code:
strings libjcivdm.so >>libjcivdm.txt
https://mega.nz/#!uJlCjbJZ!APD4c2qTMnAcY2j5n7EuLkfeRBsdNohQsM_AT0eXIJ0
EDIT: mega link fixed.

Can't find anything on DPF. But then, North America does not have a Diesel (Mazda does not cheat like VW 0:) ) . So the software may not contain the PIDs for diesel engine.
