I have a 2015 Mazda3 and today, for the first time, my security icon started flashing. It is the padlock intertwined with the car symbol, but I am not able to submit a picture in acceptable format for this forum.

Why, all of a sudden, has this happened?

Yes, the car starts and functions normally in every way. It is just that this icon suddenly started blinking.

Normally, that indicates the alarm system is armed. I don't think it should be flashing once you enter the car with the fob and start it. The manual says the car might not restart if you shut it off when the light is flashing as the immoblizer may be activated.

I agree that this icon should not be flashing at me when I am sitting in, and about to start, my car. This just began, and it is annoying!!

Just a thought, but did you try replacing the battery in the fob? It may be weak enough that the system can't detect it all the time, so the light is coming on.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried both fobs. One fob's batteries were new - no difference. Still blinking!
[So, I am sitting in the driver's seat and the icon is flashing at me.]
