it's just a cruise gear man.. to help save a penny per mile.. 6th gear helps when your over 80mph
Over 80 I get like 24 mpgs... Also, skip 5th. What I do. :yes:

then cruise slower. little 4 cylinders can't cruise a 4,000lb car @ 75mph at 2k dude the power just isn't there, you'd eat gas like crazy
Wrong. The car weighs just a tad over 3,000lbs, the 2.5 is about as large as 4 cylinder motors come, and the Skyactiv models do have a lower ratio in 6th than the 2.5, which is part of the reason why that car gets such better mileage. Mazda calculated the 2.5's ratios in order to keep the motor on the boil, so to speak, and it's the reason why passing at 70mph in 6th is pretty easy. 4.11 final drive plus super short transmission ratios are some of the primary reasons why the car is as fun to drive as it is.

I love how the joke is no longer, "should have bought a speed", now its "should have bought a Skyactiv"...lol

Jeez, OV. What gave you the impression the car was in camaro weight territory? Skyactiv's are actually even less.. like in the 28-2900lbs range.
