Hi All, I have tried finding out how to remove the cup holders and I have not found to much information on it. I heard it was easy but I don't want to break anything. Which part would I start to pull up as I tried to pull up the cup holders but they seem firmly attached. Any help will do.

I love how nice the center console flows into the dash and I like to keep things clean.
Its kind of a silly mod but this is the 1st front wheel drive car that I bought and I thought it might be possible to make the cup holder deeper so I could close the lid.

I wanted and still might put a tray under incase spills but I couldnt find anything in the barn or house so

I cut a piece of heavy vinal to cover the electroinic box under (I need a factory manual) then put some black foam. It may be good enough.

If I ever work behind the dash Id like to run a cold AC duct to it using vaccume cleaner hose or something to keep those beverages nice and frosty.

Does anyone know if there are vents to the back seats??? I havent seen any.

This is Hilarious! I like the idea of being able to keep the lid down with beverages (or other) inside. Did you have to cut it there? The work of a dremel, or does it just detach there?

I posted this on Mazdaspeedforums, they shot me down so far hehhee but I don't care.I said its silly.

I used a metal band saw (same blade as a hacksaw, IM sure a dremel would work) pushing it by hand. It went very fast and easy maybe 1 min to cut.

It fits a beverage with a can cooler. Ill need to "test it out" and see if there is anything I don't like about it.

Might come in handy cruzinit the strip with all the road blocks and all.

Be careful with those big ass cups you get when you buy a fountain drink. They might not touch the bottom and could spill everywhere.

Pretty neat mod and I like the idea of chilling the beverages. I've seen some higher end cars with those. (BMW, MB, etc...)

I was a plastic flask like this at a liquor store. Didn't look like it had any metal parts and may get you through airport security with more than 3 ounces of "water."

It works fine. I can have 2 beverages in can coolers ready to go. Flip the lid down and they are stealth.

Only one small probem. The standard household coffee cup will dissapear in there, but its not a problem for me because I use a taller insulated cup. If I get get a small starbucks Ill just put the papercup into isulated cup and all is good.

So far I'm liking it and would do it again.

I saw the vents under the seats but havent played with them yet.

Ideally Id like to have a duct direct from the AC/Heater box and then a separate ON/Off just for the beverages. But its really low on my priorties.

Im already getting more and more disapointed in the sterio, sound quality and lack of Digital USB input and lame MP3 navigation. Starting to research Double Din and the Carputer. At that time I will work on the Vent Duct idea.

(I went out to buy a Automatic Fit for my new wife, they were out of stock, came home with this MZ3)

Funny thing is I always buy manual shift for most my vehicles, but I bought this car for my new wife. And here I am again starting to mod it out. Dammit. I gotta stop it or buy her another car and if thats the case, I should have bought a Manual speed. D'oh
