Have high mileage owners (say over 100,000 miles) of the latest Mazda 3 had any reliability problems with the new Skyactiv engines / transmissions and other major components?

I'd be interested in this as well. I know at some point I had done some googling and found several people that had CX-5's that were in the 200-300k mile range (I own one of those as well). My CX-5 has 50k on it and so far no issues. My Mazda 3 only has 5k on it so hopefully both have a ton of life left in them because I need to keep them for a while.

As someone living in an area where roads are salted in the winter to help manage snow and ice, I expect rust to kill the car long before drivetrain issues rear their ugly heads. I'm too cheap and lazy to have the underside coated each fall to help deal with this issue, so perhaps I'll be first to report when rust inevitably shows up.

The UK warranty gives a 12 year anti-corrosion warranty - "Anti-Perforation Warranty on body sheet metal panels against perforation due to corrosion for 12 years regardless of mileage". See https://www.mazda.co.uk/buying-owning/buying/warranty/

Don't you have that cover in the US?

No, not in Canada either. Nearly all of Canada and much of the US are susceptible to greater exposure to corrosive road ice mitigation chemicals - thus the reduced warranty. In Canada the perforation warranty is now 7 yrs / unlimited. Keep in mind: perforation means there's gotta be a hole for them to fix it.

Yes, we do, but it's nowhere near 12 years. Instead, it reads "5-year/unlimited-mileage Warranty Against Body Rust-Through (Anti-Perforation Limited Warranty)". The text can be seen in this brochure: https://www.mazdausa.com/siteassets/pdf/brochures/2016-mazda3-5-door/2016_mazda3_4dr_brochure.pdf

That jumped right off the page of the brochure at me when my wife was considering the car. She was coming from a Volvo that had an 8-year rust warranty (and no rust issues after 17 years in winter-road-salted New Hampshire). We decided to take our chances.
