I REALLY want these taillights but I don’t think my state laws (Kentucky) would allow them.
It never hurts to find out and ask your dmv to see if those tail lights are permitted. I kind of want to tint my headlights yellow further down but I’ll call my dmv to find out. I hope they say it’s ok to drive with those tail lights. You can find them on Amazon/eBay. Good luck!

Yea I’ve been eyeing them on mikstore debating on pulling the trigger. I have a 2018 sport trim HB and the 3 upgrades I really want to do to this car is the GT style headlights/taillights, and the grill. The headlights are gonna be crazy expensive and the taillights aren’t too far behind. I did order the honeycomb grill and excited as hell waiting for it to arrive.

ahhh ok. I'd find out first if your state allows it, and then order that part. The Axela headlights will be very tricky to install and I'd suggest to find a headlight specialist to install them. I can tell you that the headlights are worth getting for the improvements of the functionality and the looks. They're still rare to see on the forums and other places. I find them to be very unique and worth all the effort. Also, be prepared to wait about a month for them.

Judging by your antenna, would I be correct in assuming your 3 is either a Sport or Touring? If so, where did you get your GT style headlights? Sorry in advance if I’m wrong.

You are correct. My car is the 2017 touring model. You’re good, no need to be sorry.
I got my jdm Axela headlights on eBay. I believe you can get them on Amazon and Ali express as well.

I’d also like to point out, that the jdm axela headlights has no Amber turn signals. This is the biggest difference between the usdm gt headlights and the Jdm Axela headlights.

This was my car on my first day of ownership. Way before all the mods and transformations from this past year. I bought my mazda 3 touring back in sept 2017.

Do you have a Headlight installer you can take it to? Usually they would able to convert cars from halogen to hid light system.
If you have that then you’re not that bad of a position. If you still have your front side markers and mirrors in tact, they both have the turn signals built in. Assuming you have the touring edition as well. I’m currently using those two for my turn signals.
You should also contact mikstore for installation instructions (pdf format). Mine didn’t come with it and I’m assuming they’re all the same type.
Lastly, look for light installation specialists in your area and find out how much would it cost to convert from halogen to hid. This should give you a rough estimate of the costs. I paid about $200 to install mine, here in California.

Why not just changing the halogen bulbs with LED bulbs. The LED bulbs now are unlike before cause now you can use them in halogen headlights and get those sharp cut-offs. I have it on a 2009 and 2020 CRV.

The aftermarket headlights are a completely different system with different connectors that aren’t compatible with the usdm light connectors. It’ll take more than just replacing a bulb. He purchased a set of aftermarket projectors that will take a bit of effort to install.
If you look at the headlights that the non-gt models have compared to aftermarket headlights, there’s a big difference in design as well as functionality.

I confused myself with the turn signal part. I think what I really need is the actual amber reflectors on the side of the headlight assembly. Something that I don’t see on the new ones I ordered.

If that’s the case, you still have time to cancel your order. Might be a lot more challenging if you don’t have a specific shop to install them for you. Your bottom ambers still are effective but it looks like you don’t have any on your mirrors.
Let me know if you have any more concerns or questions.
Also to further add, no dealership will sell you brand new gt headlights. They’re about $1,200 per side, totaling about $2,500 without installation.
I tried going the usdm route and wasn’t getting anywhere to convert my halogen headlights to the gt hid headlights.
The jdm route is more affordable but has its complications with installation. The usdm headlights will be the same issue but much more expensive if you can get access to a pair.

The design is different yes but the right led bulb can be just as good or better (if you pay the price). I’ve installed and opened up a couple non-gt and gt lights for custom lighting/leds.

I can speak for myself. I’m buying for the design, so yes the right led can be comparable, ultimately the single housing jdm/gt look is why I’d buy it. I rarely see other mazda 3 third gen owners having the Axela projectors and that rarity and how unique it looks is why I got it. Anyone else can get bulbs if they wish to do so. I’m only giving my accounts and my reasons on why I upgraded.

Just pointing out the bulb change comment above. The GT headlights definitely look better. The non-GT reflecter housing and side reflectors look terrible. I blacked out mine but did lose high beam in the process.

Did you use a heat gun or bake your lights in the oven in order to open and darken your headlights? I can’t tell from this angle if you have a single housing or not.

Actually realized you mentioned it in your comment. Props to you for having done that yourself. I’m surprised you lost your high beams as well in process. Did you document your process of blacking out your headlights? I’m sure lots of folks would love to do that to their headlights too if they saw your results.

The daytime running lights from the jdm Axela projectors paired with the jdm side markers goes so well together.
