Sad day, but perhaps with a silver lining

Sad day. Here's desperately hoping they total it. It'll be a new SGT to replace my S Touring if that happens.

BTW, air bags really stink when they deploy.

Yep - silver lining! They're going to total the car, and we have full-price insurance. So I'm shopping for a 2016 SGT now. I don't think Soul Red is available around here, so it'll probably be black.

Still - so glad they didn't try to fix it. It would've never been right.

Thankful.

You got lucky on that one. Usually it's the bag deployments that will total the car more than the physical damage. Good luck finding the one you want!

SGT with a manual tranny - I'd like another Soul Red but that doesn't seem to be available. Probably going with black otherwise.

Glad to hear you'll be getting into a brand new one. :smile2: Happy hunting! Let us know what color you end up with.

I guess you need a car sooner than later.. When I ordered that exact combo, it took 4 months. SOO worth it.
I can't wait 4 months for a red one. 2nd choice is black.

I'm driving a rental Nissan Frontier. Hate it. HATE. IT. *Every* time I drive it I think, "I miss my car. I miss my car. I miss my car."

Not sure where you are located but call other dealers around your state. You would be surprised what dealers are willing to do to move a car.
I'm in ATL. Dealer has scoured a 300mi. radius, and the black manual is (hopefully) coming from Franklin, TN (outside Nashville). No red SGT manuals in a 300 mile radius. *sigh*

Try Cars.com

Don't settle for something you kinda want. I'm not sure what your zip code is but:

The only red one within 500mi of me is in Christiansburg, VA. (I'm in ATL) I've asked my dealer to check if that is possible. Otherwise - I'm fine with black. My previous car was a 1989 Mazda MX-6 GT in black, so I'm very comfortable with driving black Mazdas. :smile2:

Cargurus is pretty good for locating vehicles:

Found a red manual SGT in Spartanburg, SC but it's a hatchback...
I provided a link with 5 sgt red manual within a 500 mile radius of atlanta. 2 were sedans and 3 were hatches.

Thanks. Yes, I saw that. I want a sedan. One is the same car I mentioned already. And I already know that the other is 451 miles away, which is too far for the dealer to move it here.
Yak...sorry to hear that mlp-mx6. It was once happening to my old Gen8 Civic too. I was out for a month and a half too. The air bag smell is sure stink. On the other hand, I got a chance to change to my dream car....M3S. Hopefully, it turns out in a good way for you.0:)
The collision was at an intersection, where there is a dedicated right turn lane. I *thought* I saw the person in front had gone - turned and moved on. So I was looking left to ensure the way was still clear.
Had this exact same accident in 1998 or so. Turning right, right turn lane w/ yield sign. Car in front was moving so i looked left to see if anyone was coming while going maybe 10 mph or so - no one coming, great - turn head and the guy in fronts decides to stop at the yield sign (again, no cars coming). Hit the brakes and barely bumped him. But enough to have police come out, etc....

Yup it sucks man ... best of luck to you.

Some drivers treat YIELD sign as STOP sign even if there are no cars on parallel lane. The same paradox goes for turning signal at STOP sign on T one way (left or right only!) intersection about 80% drivers turn signal on, and only 30% drivers use blinker switching lanes on freeway going 50-75mph (legal speed in some instances) go figure whats in people(s) mind.

Yep - the officer said this is the most common collision they cover.

Happy news - I go to pick up my new 2016 black SGT w/ manual later today. Hooray! (the only Soul Red SGT w/ manual within 500 miles was in Christiansburg, VA, and that dealer said they were expecting to sell it, so no joy.) It's okay - as I mentioned, I drove a black Mazda for 26.5 years before my 2015 3, so it's all good. I almost got black the first time anyway. But my wife really liked the red... Still, I'm counting my blessings.

^^^ nice man good choice! I prefer the black myself anyway, although the red does look good - it just seems a bit generic for these cars due to all the advetising in red.

Enjoy the new car!
