Sorry to see this. They should total it. If those crumple zones are compromised they are insta total.
The collision was at an intersection, where there is a dedicated right turn lane. I *thought* I saw the person in front had gone - turned and moved on. So I was looking left to ensure the way was still clear. The officer said this is, by far, the most common collision they deal with. The airbag deployment was such a shock.Glad your ok, thats going to be an expensive lesson in following distance.
It was somebody I know, and it was a brand new car - Chevy Traverse. Only bumper and rear hatch slightly dented - I'm assuming since it's so much higher than my 3.Hopefully the driver you hit gets a new car and isn't stuck with a depreciated vehicle with an accident on it's history....
We're supposed to have "full replacement cost" insurance. I couldn't talk to anybody at the insurance place on a Sunday. Here's hoping.Sorry to see this, hope you get out financially good.
With what speed did you hit him?

Looks burgundy in the picture, did you buy this car new or used? If used no one knows if airbags were stolen/deployed and new ones were not properly installed.Ah sucks to see, glad no one was hurt tho. Seeing this brings back those memories of my first accident, being a red car too. This was over 10 years back.

Interestingly my airbags did not deploy and I hit the steering wheel :/
You should not have to take if off. When they appraise the car make sure you tell them it has aftermarket parts and as long as you have receipts for them they will give you some money for them. I was not allowed to take any parts off my old tC when it was totalled so they just gave me the money to replace the parts.Yes, thanks. I should've said - nobody hurt. And both front doors were jammed, hard to open, so I'll take that as a sign that crumple zones did indeed crumple.
So to have the 2.5L and a manual tranny the SGT is my only option now. That's why I said SGT, by the way. And it looks like it's cheaper than my S Touring was anyway. So maybe I get money back! (which will, of course, go fully to increased insurance rates)
The other thing that will suck is having to go to the tow yard to remove my rear sway bar. The front strut tower bar is a 2 min. operation. The hood struts are a 5 min. operation. But I'll have to remove the rear coil spring to get the sway bar off. And I'll have to install it again, too, on the replacement car. It wasn't that much fun the first time.
Bought the car used, it had a salvaged title on it. Back then it was my first car ever and didn't know what it meant but apparently the car was in a front end accident before too. Maybe you're right it wasn't properly installed or something :/Looks burgundy in the picture, did you buy this car new or used? Most likely what happened, a sketchy shop installed without proper certification. The title was rebuild and bribed inspected facility just went visually over some lights on dashboard.Bought the car used, it had a salvaged title on it.
