Right Rear Shock Cover rattling.. Dealer did nothing!

2674 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Mello
When I was in for regular maintenance and tire swap for winters back in December I had the dealer look for a rattling sound I was hearing from the rear suspension.

They told me it was the right rear shock cover, but it wasn't loose. So I assumed they fixed the rattle after the service manager said nothing else. I leave the dealer and the first bump I hit I hear it again!

Any suggestions? Should I go back to the dealer and ask them to stop the rattle? I kind of just gave up right away since he said nothing was loose or wrong/in danger.

If still under warranty, I'd have the dealer re-look at it.

I went in for an oil change and asked them to check for leaks for me and stuff because I had this re-occurring CEL. Well, they said things were "fine". Got the CEL the next night. I cleared it by resetting my ECU and it hasn't returned since. :)
I'm pretty sure I'm out of warranty. I just passed 47k yesterday and I've had the car for 4.5 years. I forget what the standard warranty was, wasn't it 4 years, 45,000 miles?
i never had a rattling noise in mine thats wierd, but i do remember it used to squeak bad!
the dealer checked it out and they said there was nothing wrong it just needed some oil on it or something, i dont really hear any noises now and i have almost 100,000 miles
100,000 miles? Wow! Anyway I'm not sure if I'll take it back in just for that. If they said it was alright and I've been driving on it since they looked at it and everythings fine. Next oil change I'll ask them again to see if they can stop it from rattling.
maybe the cover is just loose or something, if you noticed no problems with the car driving i wouldnt worry about too much.

you should def. ask them again though next oil change.

Cool, thanks man. Yeah I don't notice any problems while driving.. I just hear the rattling whenever I go over a bump, just annoying sometimes. I can live with it as long as I know it's alright.
