So, while I'm sure not all of your feel the same, my OCD-sense starts tingling when I look at the silver trim on the dash. There's a lot going on in there. We've got the piano black trim, carbon fiber trim, bright silver trim, and then we've got this dash trim that just doesn't really match anything else in the interior.

So as I just discovered a little while ago, the "lower end" models have a Piano black trim for the dash! WTF! So I promptly spent more money on that than most of you are probably willing to do. I'm sure some of you will like, others I already know aren't a big fan of the gloss black trim (gotta clean it with a wipe similar to what you use to clean eye-glasses -- that'll prevent the micro scratches).

But nonetheless, here's the end result; before and after:

That looks nice! I love the ways people customize their cars. Even little things make it your own.

There sure are a lot of different materials in this car. I really wish that the interior shiny bits would be the same color/texture as the piece you replaced.

Amen to that brother! That is a nice looking piece of dash trim. I did reach out to Mazda to see if the part is interchangeable and they said it is unfortunately not, but I don't believe them. As soon as I can grab a part number on it, I'm going to order it along with the door/vent trim that goes with it and see if I like it. I'm not quite sure why it wouldn't be interchangeable, but I guess I'll find out.

Looks good
I agree it's pretty backwards that the piano black finish is available on the lower trims only when it matches better

I dig it. Part # and price?
BHN1-55-150A-02

$140

Unfortunately it comes with the center air vents attached (not sure how to get it separate), but the vent easily detaches by 4 screwed in the back holding it on. Remember, lower end models comes with the matte silver vent décor, and upper end models comes with the "bright" silver. This piece when you order it comes with the silver matte. So if you have an upper end model and want to use your bright silver trimmed vent, you'll need to detach the one it comes with and attach your current vent.

total install took me about 10 min from start to finish

I like it! What kind of material is it? A lot of the aftermarket carbon fiber trim out there looks cheap and glossy. Not the stuff you have though -- looks to be good quality. Who makes it? And do they make different colors?

Thanks

I usually go with 3M stuff. You can get it on Amazon, but the White Carbon fiber tend to separate really easily so you have to be careful with the install. Yes they come in a few different colors.
