Well, I emailed a company here in the UK that remaps vehicles.
And got a reply saying

quote...
I`m afraid it`s not worth to do remap on non turbo engines, because gain will be no more than 8bhp...

Kind Regards, FCP Remapping.

Are they correct?
If so, no matter I'm happy with the car as it is.

Edit...
Just got another mail saying...only worth doing Turbo or diesel engines.

Well that was very honourable and up front of them. I suspect there are others that would do it and take the wonga.

This is pretty true, we get people all the time asking for re-maps, and we don't do them, but they also are not really worth it for most naturally aspirated cars. The benefit (if done right) isn't actually an increase in power so much as a change in how the power is put to the ground. Remapping is ideal in that case for track use, autocross or other racing. Since the cars are mapped from the factory for street use a good aftermarket remap can change the power curve and torque to different points which can totally help.
