Hi,

I'm about to take my M3 2014 into the dealer on Monday.

  • The red key light with the little X in the middle stays on. (Both Key FOBS are in the car at the time)
  • The traction control light stays on when moving.
  • When the car is warm, and I'm at idle (red light), the car "pulses" every second or so. It seems like the RPM is bouncing. This is not A/C related, since it happens when the A/C is turned off.
The lights problem started today. The pulsing has happened since I bought the car but I've kind of ignored it since others are reporting the same. I assumed it was normal car behavior.

I wouldn't mind going into the dealer with some idea of what the problem is ahead of time. Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

No, definitely not. I would bring it in.
The manual says the red lights are the fobs being low on battery, but that doesn't seem to be the case since you can start the car without putting the fob up to the ignition button. The TC light... not sure. As for the pulsing, that sounds like there may be a vacuum leak. Check the vacuum hoses in your hood and make sure they're connected correctly.

Either way, right to the dealer!
