Just bought a 2015 hatchback. The rear wiper bangs into the spoiler/shade at the top of the arc hard enough to stop it unless I force something under the shade to raise it a fraction. Anybody else had this problem?

Agreed. Sounds like the wrong part was installed. My dealership made that exact same mistake on my 2015 hatch during a maintenance visit and it caused the same problem just a few months ago, so it may be a common mix-up.

Luckily I caught it just as I was leaving and had them re-do it with the correct part. The wrong part was at least an inch too long. The correct part has plenty of clearance. Probably just some shop guy grabbing a wiper for a CX-5 or some other year and not realizing it's the wrong one.

I suggest you visit your nearest dealership. Depending on your country, Aftermarket rear wiper blades may be hard to find so you have little to no choice but to buy one off the dealership. It has to fit in flush with the plastic housing otherwise you'd get the problem you mentioned. From my own experience with cars, the rear wiper blades wear out faster maybe because I use them often even when they're dirty. Back then I don't clean the dust off it as often as the front wipers but now I make sure I clean all of my wiper blades regularly.

Nothing wrong with visiting the dealerships part department for this, but here in the states the rear blade is easy to get. I bought mine at autozone

I just replaced mine with one from Autozone. The book there said it was a 14B (14 inch) and I remember it was 300 mm or close to 12 in.
I told the man behind the counter this and he looked it up from his computer. it came out to be a 12A. I imagine many folks make the same mistake.

I bought one at Autozone as well. The book there said it was a 14B (14 in.) I remembered that they called out 300 mm which is close to 12 in. The man behind the counter checked his computer and sure enough, it called for a 12A! I put it on and it fit, but I ended up using the old housing with new inserts. The new housinf needed a larger hole to insert the brackett on the car. I imagine many folks have made the same mistake.
