Not sure if it's known, but to release/lift up the rear seat bottom/cushion, there are two (very thin) latches under the outer seats, and pulling them outwards (towards the door) will release the rear seats.

This is for the BP Hatch.

Why might one care? If you ever wanted to get something from under the seat....

My story:
My kids dropped something in the seat belt buckle area, but when they tried to get it, (of course) they pushed it deep into the gap and ended up underneath the seat rattling against the metal. I tried for an hour reaching into the tiny gap with my fingers at various angles but couldn't get it back out. Finally when I used the latches to remove the easy, I easily got the object back out.
