The first picture I ever saw of her!
Image

She arrived from Maine during the Super Bowl! I'm a huge football fan (Colts!) but this couldn't wait so I drove out to meet her!
Image

My first car ever!

Image

The first mods I did to her: Black eyelids and emblems and took off the front license plate (the one good thing about florida haha).
Image

New kicks- 16x7" Kazera KZ-P's! I'm keeping them until I wear out my tires then I'll go to 17's or 18's. (pre-lowering and tinting)
Image

CS SRI
Image

Road Magnet lowering springs (1.25") and Koni STR.T struts installed. Also 30% front and 20% rear tint.

OEM Sideskirts + Road Magnet sticker (may remove, not sure)

Blue Interior LED's

Mockup of potential wheels
Image

Potential wheels fell through but now I get to show off my actual ones :big grin: I hated these wheels when I first got into modifying my car but I fell in love with everything about them and saved up
Image

Wheel and tire specs are in signature or at the top of the thread (and I weighed the wheels at 17.5lbs each), tires in the pics are Sumitomo touring something or other because they put the wrong ones on!!! Now i'm on Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2 which are a huge improvement over both the Sumitomos in 16" and 18"
Image

I'm in the process of making the center caps for them, not sure exactly which route I'm going though at the moment. Working on them with my buddy who has a mustang on 20x10.5" Vossen cv3's so after I finish my wheels and after he dips his car we're gonna do a photoshoot :banana 1:
Image

I think I will get spacers relatively soon for the rears as the fronts have the perfect amount of poke for my taste but the rears are a tad bit tucked. Nothing major though. I also wasn't on hub centric rings last set-up (BIG MISTAKE) even the rings on the same (but lower profile) tire make it feel better than having no rings but a larger tire.
Image

The Varrstoen Neo-chrome Lug nuts absolutely glow when the wheels reflect them!
Image

Spent 2 hours cleaning the rust behind the centercaps yesterday, not the best angle for the after picture but the only closeup I had from before

That allowed me to make MK.1 of my DIY centercaps! I traded my friend a shoutout on instagram for some black vinyl and then bought a pack of 10 white Enkei stickers on ebay (for like $6). I also bought four 2" wide metal circles with expandable tabs behind them from (I think) Home Depot (for like $2 each).
Image

Image

Image

Now I'm just waiting on the GV spoiler and Corksport liscense plate to arrive!
Also centercaps MK.2 will occur after that friend plasti dips his car. He's going for that gold with purple flake that (I think) Paulnur has on instagram and we're gonna dip the caps with the leftover! Will probably happen sometime in the next couple weeks.

...

I've had my CorkSport swaybar for about 9 months now and had previously been planning to pay for the installation as I didn't think I would be able to do it myself. But I've always wanted to do this stuff myself so I went out, bought a couple of tools I didn't have as well as chocks and wheel ramps so I could install it. It was the FIRST time I've ever been underneath a car and I definitely know it won't be my last, I'm already trying to make excuses to do more underbody/suspension mods! I'm not gonna post a review of it or anything though cause everyone else has done it, anyway the swaybar is so good!
Image

Image

Image

I'm not in any rush to create the MK.2 center caps now, so I'm just waiting for my GV spoiler to arrive in the mail. I will probably get some 5-10mm spacers for the rear wheels soon, and tomorrow I'll post the CorkSport license plate pics as well as better ones of the new stickers that I've been rocking on my side skirts (you can kinda see them in one of the pics about my swaybar). Other than that I miiiight go lower (but it costs a ton of money!), I miiiight get a big brake kit (but they're so expensive!), and I miiiight get a front lip (but it costs money!). I'll just wait and see where the car takes me!

GV SPOILER! After spending a month waiting it finally shipped! And after one more week it arrived. But I was in a different state. And the first day I got back was Easter. So I had to wait another day. :crybaby 1: . All in all it 1/8th of my year was spent waiting for it to arrive :0. Anyway it's on now and that's what is important. I don't wanna say "jdm is jdm" and that it has the greatest fitment known to man but it was preeeety spot on. No one but me would ever notice the little bit of extra gap. All in all worth it cause a) its huge b) its sexy c) unique d) looks good from all angles e) hella quieter than the wing raisers at highway speeds f) doesn't shake when I close the goddamn trunk like the wing raiser did!
Image

Am looking into coils when I have the money!
Update: Have money not sure if I want coils though. Can't decide how I want to go lower and how much lower.

K2 Headlights in!

Image

Just getting on the ramps was a struggle.
Image

But I made it!
Image

Image

Bumper off! (Just followed video on their website.)
Image

Almost done
Image

And here's some more finished pics for you. I'll try to take some this evening when it's a little darker. But I love them so far! I just gotta re-buy some eyelids, totally didn't crack my old ones trying to get them off. Yeah totally didn't...

Thank you, means a lot! I remember seeing pics of your (awesome) shop car floating around, I felt the RZ connection for sure (and the auto exe/x-sport bumper connection, right?)! Totally jealous of the GT's though, saw some on (iirc) an Alpha GTR at the liberty walk summer bash meet, badass wheels!

Got my MSDS Headers in! And while the car was in the air I had them put on my 70a Hardline RMM. Not trying to start a streetunit flame war in my thread, but it was on sale for $99, I picked up from streetunit locally, and they all seemed genuinely nice. There were a few other mazda scene guys picking up parts and all the staff came outside for an impromptu meet. The mount itself seems like a better design than the other ones on the market too. But I do know of their history and am still wary about dealing with them.

Parts I still need:
Tune
BBK
Dominant Engineering Camber arms
15mm rear spacers w/extended studs
Volk ZE40 Matte Blue Gunmetal :p

But I'm on the college budget now so we'll see if any of these ever become a reality :frown2:

Late Edit: Also need mid chassis brace and LSD. But LSD is lumped in with the ZE40 as less real, more dream.

So I'm ~1500 miles into my road trip (going to Boulder CO from Orlando FL, currently in Kansas) with my car and can make some reports! It's holding up super well, all we've had to do was add air to the tires and make a zip tie chain to reattach part of the under tray section under the X-Sport Bumper. Every once in a while the coils start to squeak a little but it always goes away, not super worried about it. And my OBD2 sensor is reporting nothing other than the missing CAT check engine lights. We're averaging 34.5 mpg with a fully loaded car! It's been surprisingly comfortable other than when I caught air doing 90 in Missouri (allegedly). God I love this car.

Here's a picture of her in Kansas!

hey I’m back! you guys might remember me from such classics as “my god that diffuser is ugly” and “why is your font bumper an auto exe duraflex knock off that’s bolted on and not quite color matched correctly.”

I was away at college in Boulder for a year and honestly didn’t care about my car. Oops won't make that mistake again but we'll get to it later. I raised it back up to max coilover height after I got it stuck overnight on the pullout for Veritas V11 (if anyone googles this boulder problem you’ll find the rock climb I got my car stuck on top of) in Rocky Mountain National Park because I buried a wheel and beached myself on a rock.

Image

I hadn’t washed it since I left florida. I got hit by a bicyclist in Boulder (yes I was sitting still at a crosswalk) as he flew around from behind another car, hit me, and scratched my (knock off) bumper before racing away quickly. Then the mesh got knocked out by a lacrosse ball (thanks school!).

But anyways I’m back in the game (if one could call it that). In Boulder I took off my window banner. And now I’m back home for the summer so I thought I’d try to do a few finishing things on my car and get it looking right again. I washed it (need it done professionally still) and lowered it back to it’s former height (~within a few 1/16ths of an inch). I put the stock bumper on and today I cut the ’10-11 bayson-r lip into 3 pieces and reattached it to the bumper separated. I still need to tweak it some but I think it looks good overall. A little unique and different but that’s what this build has come to stand for haha

Other than that I bought new side skirt clips and will be putting the passenger side skirt back on the car properly (not hidden-ziptied and slightly falling off). And maybe a couple more minor things. But it's nice to have a car I like again and have people come up and talk to me about it!! Definitely gonna try to stay in the game some more.

I see that you have the gv wing. did you paint it at a shop, do you mind telling me approximately how much that cost? Also, what did you use to install it(does is use oem screws?)? I have the wing as well and it was painted by the retailer but its does not match. Thanks

Hi all, been a minute! Moving on to my dream platform (FD3S RX-7), just won the car at auction in Japan and now I'm waiting on the invoice and then it should be here by mid September.

Car is a 1992, SINGLE OWNER with ~36K ORIGINAL km but it's an auto... BUT 36k ORIGINAL km and NO RUST! Somehow I got it for an absolute steal, not sure if I can recommend people on the forums (I'm a bit rusty on the rules) but if anyone's looking to import legally, the guy I chose was GREAT and has been at it since at least a while before '03 (he called me a young man today it was so cute), I can't say enough about how much he helped me. So feel free to ask if desired if that's ok. And because I went the import route, this car + (future) transmission swap + legal sourcing and shipping from japan is still around 2-4 times less expensive than a similarly specced RX-7 in the US. And even importing a similar specced manual is around 2x as much (as of extremely clean manual that sold last week). So transmission swap in "future" but no rush on it.

Oh, and quick background of how this dream car became possible: when I really used this forum a few short years ago I was in high school (and dreaming about blowing apex seals in a FD)... but since then I went to college, got really involved in research (why I haven't been on here/spending on my 3!) and have gotten a bunch of super good opportunities (really just gotten lucky with getting good advisors and mentors and colleagues I think). So for the next few years I'll be in as stable in a place in life as I'll be for a while and figured, "what the hell, if I can go for a FD without blowing my life (apex seal?) to smithereens I'm going to do it while young so I don't regret not doing it later later." (Oh and being single and living in a house with 6 other friends to lower rent helps too I guess... lol.)

Oh and MOST IMPORTANTLY when I inevitably blow my apex seal (see a common theme?), I got my free bus pass from work, and the bus picks up in my driveway :). Good public transport is the key to stress free RX-7 ownership if I'm to believe those who have paved the road (in apex seals... sorry) before me.

So I'm very stoked and I'll find some forum to make an average clean unoriginal oem+ RHD FD build (but this will be MY clean unoriginal oem+ RHD FD build) and link it eventually.

But now that we have new excitement out of the way, how does this relate to my 3?

Well, unless I get any interest on an obviously aftermarket car like my 3 is in the next couple months (before arrival of the FD), I'm going to part out the 3 soon. Need to take shipment of FD in Florida (where I'm from originally) pick up stock 3 parts from the attic that'll fit, and then drive cross country (without blowing an apex seal!) to Colorado and re-stockify my car there. I think my signature is somewhat up to date still, even years old as it is, so that's mostly stuff that can be expected from my car. But, I'll make the official posts in the right places when the time comes!

Also, not sure if anyone is still on here from when I was a bunch a couple years ago (just saw color0 give up on the chassis (iirc) but now he has a S2k if I got that right? end of an era that 3 was so nutty!), but if not... hi everyone else!

Damn bro. That’s a clean a$$ FD. Lucky man. Lol.

If you end up taking off the GV spoiler & are willing to ship to Hawaii, I’ll take it off your hands. [emoji23][emoji23]

Ever since seeing your sky with the GV wing, I’ve always wanted one. Hated how boring the stock sky wing looks. Ended up going the cheap route & adding a universal ducktail spoiler to it just to take away the flat line that follows the roof.

I’ll be watching out for your part out thread. Haha.

Respect from the 808 ??

Thanks so much man! The guy I went through was a saint, I kept trying to bid on FD's that were just not up to par at all and he was like "please don't make me buy this for you, I can get you something better" and he really came through.

And I was kind of assuming that I'd have to ship stuff anyways as the car scene in Colorado is just... strange? Not sure how else to describe it, there's definitely nice cars out there, but the culture is not something I'm really in to and I just can't put my finger on why. I miss that part of Florida for sure.

So yeah, not sure how much shipping to Hawaii is, but I'll try and find out when I get my car parted out and you'll be the first to know. You'd have to cover shipping, but if you do end up wanting the wing and shipping is reasonable, would be an honor for it to end up on your car!

Your ride is awesome by the way, if I was staying around in the 3 game I would for sure be picking up the STI lip that you have! It looks way better on the sky than any other lip I've seen. And the fender flares are rad too.
