I get a lot of radio static when I am charging my phone using the ac plug. Is there a way to reduce or eliminate this static?

It could be the AC power converter causing switching noise on the FM band. If you have a standard mini-USB type charging plug on your phone, try unplugging the AC charger and try charging directly from the cars USB port. Otherwise, you may need a new AC charger.
