The end of the spring (the tip that is cut) has to be right on that nub. Aligning with the nub locks the spring to the upper mont so I doesn't slip when the sping coils and uncoils during driving.

The pics were taken while the install was in progress. The end result needs to be that the nub lines up with the spring tip. Yes, if you overtighten the nuts the mounts will bind. It happened to me the first time I installed the springs. Snug them down and then a 1/4 turn with blue loctite is good.

Everthings the same except for the lower rear shock bolt. You don't need to do that.

Who me? Got my spring compressors at Autozone. Works fine! They refused to rent so I had to buy.

EDIT: Sorry didn't see this post till today. If this is Lex from MSF fame I see you got your springs and koni's installed.

Ahh, ok your the other Lex on MSF. Got it! Nice writeup on MSF. BTW.
Yeah Autozone doesn't rent where I live. I originally went in and asked about renting and they said $65. Then I asked about buying and they said $65 LOL. They said they used to but they never get them back. I've used my cheapy compressors over twenty times any haven't had any problems.
