My 2015 Mazda 3 hatchback was just involved in a hit and run while parked last night. Might be kind of hard to tell the extent of the damage (at least for me), but was wondering how bad this might look like to others. Is that bent metal bar in the top-down view as bad as I fear? Or is this all relatively salvageable? Really am not familiar with what exactly can total a car and what is more repairable than it looks.

Already filed a claim with insurance. The culprit did lose their Nissan emblem after they fled, so uh, at least I have that? ¯\(ツ)

Doesn't look that bad to me. I had a CX-5 that was damaged in much the same way, only worse. It took $10k to put it right, but yours shouldn't cost that much.

Hard to tell just from some pictures. There may be more damage behind the bumper etc. The adjuster should sort it out. Get more than one estimate, don't let the insurance company push you into using their preferred "cheaper" vendor either.
