Have any of you guys have this done to your vehicle? I've been getting estimates and so far they are in the $400-$1200 range. Thats for covering the front bumper/grill, 12" of the hood, rear view mirrors, and fender. Im still debating on the price but I really need this stuff cuz I'm starting to get chips on my front bumper from debris on the freeway. Is that what they usually cost? thanks
I have it on my 2010 5 DR GT. Had the whole front bumper, leading edge of front fenders, almost half the hood, both side mirrors and A-pillars, leading edge of the roof up to the moonroof, headlights and fog lights. Material used was VentureShield. $700.
2 of the 3 chips I've gotten so far aren't on areas typically covered by ClearBra, so I just said eff it. I have also heard that it can stain if you don't clean it within a fairly short period of time. Any truth to this?
Yellowing was a problem in previous iterations, but this has been resolved. 3M Clear Bra and Xpel both have 7 Year warranties covering not only the film but the labor as well. As for your rocker panels, you can get that covered with the material. I don't think it would have added more than $75 to $100.
I paid $800 + tax for the following:
hood (covers almost 3/4 of it)
complete front grill
mirrors
strip along the roof (covers everything from the windshield back to the moonroof)
door edge guards (made from the same 3M product)
Lamp Gard (covers headlights and fog lights)
As a side note, I dropped by the Lamborghini shop here in Dallas where they apply ClearBra to the ENTIRE CAR....from stem to stern! Unreal! It takes something like 30 hours and $3k to do this.
I have heard of staining/discoloration that was visable on light colored cars. Another thing I would worry about would be issues in the long term where the paint under the ClearBra would be very close to the original paint color, and the rest of the car would be another due to the paint aging and fading.
